Nice storage rack, but will more than likely require some additional lumber to properly mount this in a residential installation. Once you get that part sorted out, the rack itself is very nice and sturdy. Overall the product is exactly as described, and performs as expected.

I ordered this hoping it would work in our attached three stall garage/shop but that isn't going to happen. There are two significant reasons that this is not a good option for standard home use. First is the way they want you to hang them from the ceiling. In most home construction you have rafters anywhere from 16 to 24 inches or in cases of poor construction up to even 36. So, the problem now becomes two-fold with the first one being that the length and width of the frame doesn't come out right to line up with the rafters. The other issue is that the four bases are six inches wide so they will not fit on two-inch wide (actually 1 3/4 inch) boards. They provide a way to use sheetrock mounting however I would NEVER mount even part of this that way. There is way too much weight with the frame itself not to mention when you put stuff on it to trust even partial sheetrock mounting. The second big issue is that even if we had a solid ceiling or maybe even mounted some boards to then mount the plates on, the holes on the vertical risers don't line up. I thought that maybe I had it put together wrong, so I tried every possible configuration and combination of pieces, and it just doesn't line up as shown in the second and third photos. I just can't recommend this for home use even if the holes do line up right.

I was looking for a storage rack that I could install on the ceiling of my garage. I've seen a few of them at the big box hardware store. I've seen even more on Amazon. The other storage racks seem to have a much lower capacity rating. But now I know why -- they're meant for residential installation. This one is not.I might be mistaken, but I believe the most common material used to construct the ceiling of a residential garage is wood -- either joists or rafters. I think it's rare that the ceiling of a residential garage is made of concrete. This storage rack is intended to be installed in a concrete ceiling. The instructions say to use the included expansion anchors. Those are 6mm long. If a residential garage ceiling has drywall, it's generally 1/2" or 3/4". 6mm expansion anchors are way too long to be used with drywall, even if it's double or tripled. The included expansion anchors are clearly intended to be used in concrete. If you buy some drywall anchors to use with this product, you will likely discover that the load capacity goes way down -- probably only about 100lbs.You might be able to get better results if you skip the drywall anchors and attempt to attach this to the ceiling joists. However, there are problems with that. First, the spacing between the supports isn't the same as standard joist spacing. At best you will be able to attach two supports to joists. The spacing of the holes on the support plates is bigger than the size of normal ceiling joist material. At best, you will be able to use only two of those holes in each plate. If a garage doesn't have a room above it, the ceiling joists are typically not engineered to hold the sort of weight this storage rack claims to support. The only way to get near the 1100LBS load capacity this product claims is if you fortify the ceiling joists in the unfinished space above your garage, by installing additional supports, and then anchor into that. Even then, I don't think it will support more than 750LBS.I've given this 2 stars because it is actually a good start. I can modify this product so that it will serve the purpose that I wanted it for.

The rack is sturdy and holds well. It was easy to put up in my shed and keeps my wood out of the way. This was a game changer for me as I have a small space for wood-working. Make sure you read the full description on products like these and measure correctly.

I did not read the small note in the listing that stating 'Preferably for Concrete Ceilings; Only for Wood Ceiling Joist Spacing=24''&47"' What ceiling joists have those spacing? Also, the ceiling joists would have to be very wide for the holes of one mounting plate to fit on the whole joist. That is unrealistic for standard US houses. Plus the image in the listing made it look like it was attached to a normal drywall ceiling, not the preferred concrete.Misleading and not ideal.. but still usable with a much lower weight rating. I'll see how it goes with only able to mount it to a couple studs.

The design is well-thought-out, providing alot of space while keeping items out of the way, which is particularly useful in crowded garages. The sturdy construction gives you confidence in the rack’s ability to hold heavy items securely. One consideration is to ensure your ceiling can support the load, as this rack requires proper mounting for safety.
