Be careful or you will hurt your wrist using this on a drill. Go slow and easy and it worked great for dandelion bulbs.

Used for planting red oak acorns and hickory nuts. Did great in a battery powered drill. As long as you have decent soil, this will do a great job!

I bought this for gardening and it has been a time saver for digging holes for bulbs and getting up weeds with roots, great quality for the buy.

After years of blown away beach umbrellas, twist in beach anchors, and carpal tunnel surgery this is the solution. Couple of seconds with a cordless drill & you have a hole that will hold your umbrella. Tested and proven in pre-Helena winds in Alabama. Same thing the beach equipment rental companies use.

I used this auger to drill about 35 holes for fence post sleeves in extremely hard, poorly drained clay soil during a drought year using a 1/2 inch hammer drill. It worked well right up until the end when the shaft snapped off at the drill chuck. When it hit even harder soil below, it would bind and the drill would torque my hands, but the auger held steady, until that happened. I continued to use it anyway and it still works, but is a little shorter. It does wobble, but that wasn't really an issue once it got into the ground a few inches. The tip and auger spirals lost paint, but otherwise held together and worked well. I may order another.

Bought this auger to use to run a water pipe under a sidewalk where I did not want the mess of using a hose to blast out a channel under the concrete. The auger worked surprisingly well although I had to rig up an extension to make it all the way across. You just have to go slowly and frequently pull out the auger to allow debris ejection otherwise debris will accumulate in the hole and jam things up. After successfully completing the project I used the auger to help my wife plant bushes in the yard. Amazingly, the auger handled some pretty rocky and root filled soil. Yes, the hexagonal tip on the shaft sheared off but the shaft still chucked up in the drill. BTW I'm using a Milwaukee 18 v Fuel brush-less drill/driver for this with the T-handle attached. It is rugged enough to handle the punishment that would probably kill most 18v drills out there (I have no connection to Milwaukee just mentioning the brand of drill because it will take a lot of punishment). Be careful or you can strain your wrist if you hit a rock or snag. Just put the drill in reverse and then go at it again. So far I have dug 20 holes with it that are 2 feet deep and about 18 inches wide. After using the auger to loosen things up, I use a post hole digger to remove the dirt from the hole when it is 1 foot deep. Then I drill down the second foot and use the auger to loosen things up. Then add compost and fertilizer to the hole and use the auger to mix everything up. Then the plant goes in and the dirt removed in the first step is mixed with compost and fertilizer in a 5 gallon bucket with the auger and then used to fill in the gaps along the side of the plant. All the welds are solid and the shaft is still straight despite having taken a LOT of punishment. Pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness of this product and how much labor it has saved (along with my back)!
