the metal was machined VERY rough and gets stuck while it is moving in, I would look for better options. Tried the boshe and they worked much better

I was in need for this set for a cabinet build that I was doing. They have easily plowed through ~40 hinge installs so far. Showing no signs of slowing down. Once the bit wears out, I can swap it out with a better one to keep on keeping on. I like these!

In the past when I’ve installed hinges and hardware with just a regular drill bit it was easy to end up being a little off center. I got these bits to help with that. It’s a good assortment of bits and they all appear to work well and be of decent quality. You can definitely pay more for a nicer set that will probably last longer but for my occasional usage I think these will serve me just fine.

Using these through the hinge or bracket endures pilot hole is centered in relation to the hole in the bracket. Note that it works best for additional holes once the first hole is actually screwed in to prevent the bracket or hinge from slipping out of position. The other advantage of using these is that it limits the depth of the pilot hole to 3/4 inch for the 2 smaller bits and 1 inch for the 1/8 inch bit.One problem I often encounter when using these small bits is that they are easy to break, but this device significantly reduces that potential (and spare bits are included as well).

These self-centering bits arrived fully assembled in a small translucent case with a set of extra drill bits and a small hex wrench for securing them. The #6 and #8 bits worked fine, but the centering sleeve on the #10 bit didn't retract or return smoothly. With a little bit of use, it has improved some, but I expected all three bits to work smoothly without requiring a "break-in". The bits are clearly marked with their sizes (including the bit sizes), and are a reasonable value for their price.

I’m really impressed with the ColumPRO Self-Centering Drill Bit Set! This 3-piece set, with sizes 3/32"(#6), 7/64"(#8), and 1/8"(#10), is perfect for my woodworking projects. As someone who’s newer to woodworking, this is my first set of self-drilling bits, and they’ve made a very big difference in efficiency and accuracy so far! I plan to use this set for a basement remodel project, specifically for door/hinge installation, but I can see it being useful for a variety of other tasks around the workshop. The self-centering feature is a game-changer for me, ensuring precise pilot holes for screws, and the overall design is really sturdy. That said, a small caveat: these bits are probably best suited for softwoods and might not perform as well on hardwoods. Based on my initial use, I’m confident these bits will last a long time with regular use in my workshop. I’m very satisfied with this purchase and expect them to be a reliable tool for quite some time. Highly recommend for anyone needing precise, durable drill bits for softwood projects, especially if you’re new to woodworking like me!

I do a lot of woodworking, everything from small hand carvings to fine furniture. I ordered these self centering bits to help with installing hinges and other hardware on my woodworking projects.Self centering bits are supposed make it easy to get the screw holes lined up perfectly. I usually just tape the hinge in place then use one to drill my pilot holes where they need to be. There's no guesswork about where the exact center is with a decent set of these bits.Unfortunately, this is NOT a decent set of self centering bits. There are three different sized bits in this set, 3/32, 7/64, and 1/8. The 3/32 and 1/8 ones I received don't work at all. The bits inside are off center to the point that they won't go through their respective centering guides making them completely useless. I tried loosening the set screws and realigning the bits, but it didn't help. The 7/64 bit in my set does make it through the guide, but it rubs against the side so I'm pretty sure it's not aligned correctly either.I can't use these at all so I couldn't be more disappointed with this order

These self-centering drill bits feel good in my hand. I haven't used one yet so I don't know how well it works but I did play with it and it seems as well made or better than any I've ever seen. I’d say they’re going to do exactly what I need.SPECIAL NOTE: As an approved Amazon Vine member with Gold status, I am trusted to select items for review (sometimes from a list of almost 130,000 options).
