These rods arrived lightly oiled and have a smooth surface. They are nice and strait with flat and square cuts.mine did not have any burrs or reqire any sanding

If you need 8mm, these are not 8mm. They are 7.8mm. A 0.2mm tolerance is not sufficient for a linear motion system and doesn't even meet the spec they claim it does.

My 8mm bore bearings, pulleys and gears slid straight on to these 8mm rods with no sanding or grinding. I’m happy with the purchase.
