HOW TO USE THE WALL SAFE BETTER?

  1. Using a stud finder, identify the location of two studs. The exact horizontal locations wont be precise, but don't worry about that. Just mark where you want the top and bottom inner lip of the safe to be (ie 2 horizontal lines - one on top and one on bottom). Locate the studs using a sheetrock saw, and draw your box on the wall starting from the top or bottom lines. Then saw right down against your studs until you reach one of the horizontal lines.
  2. Remove any insulation that may be in the wall and be sure your cut lines are straight.
  3. Place the safe into the hole you just cut and using a pencil, mark the studs through the screw holes in the side of the safe. Drill out the holes you just marked. Be sure to use a drill bit that is a tad smaller than the shank of the provided wood screws. This will make it a lot easier to screw in the screw.
  4. Place the safe back in the hole and use a ratchet to fasten the wood screws.

This safe is perfect. First off, packaging was great, and this safe is SOLID. It’s got great overall construction and definitely feels sturdy and difficult to tamper with. It installed really easily, adding a bead of caulk to give it a more finished look. This is perfect to store our belongings when we go out of town. Great safe, would recommend picking yourself up one.

The safe fits perfectly in between studs spaced 16" apart. To make the install easier (as I installed it solo), I built a ledge at the base of the cutout with a 2x4 to rest the safe on. I then attached the bolts to the wall studs from the inside of the safe. Hardest part was making sure the ledge I built was level.

Forst off I'm very handy and in construction. If your house was built with true 2x4 or by a guy that wasn't exact you may have some trouble. My studs were off 1/16 of an inch and that safe is exactly 14 and 1 layer of paint thick. When making this thing they should have made it a hair smaller. Had to run a rasp on the 2x4 and smack it in with a rubber hammer. It's inNow the product. I guess I wasn't thinking but that middle shelf is almost useless. The lock mechanism has to fit in there. A box of ammo isn't going to fit nor a gun. They should make the shelves adjustable or the mechanism smaller. I know it's a safe and all but it's a bit overkill. For setting the code read thr directions carefully. If you do you will be fine. The bummer to me is the mechanism taking up all that space but I guess it will do.

It’s a little shallower than I expected on the inside but fit perfectly, seems very durable as well. Looks like it may be tough to hang a picture over it but I’ll find a way.

Safe had obviously been repacked and resold as new with a re-taped and damaged shipping box to boot - it had no paperwork, packaging materials, keys, hardware, etc and the safe door was bent inwards as if someone had crushed it in to the frame by jumping up and down on it out of frustration. The safe itself is very solid so there is no way that type of damage could have occurred any place in transit with it in the box. The factory shipping box was also reused several times and re-tapped in several different layers and the plastic bag which I am guessing the safe may have originally been wrapped in was stuffed in to a corner of the box and stuck inside with even more packing tape.As for the safe itself obviously there is no way to test or open the safe to program a code without keys - as others have mentioned in their reviews this seems to be a pattern. The safe itself seemed to be of good quality and weighed about 50lbs but that is about all the good things I can find to say. Would not recommend this brand simply due to my experience and reading the same experience had by others with the same issues. Thankfully I checked the safe out before I cut a hole in the drywall.
