I have never tried to test the temperature fire out, but it holds what I needed to. With the a convenient little lock . Helps keep an honest man honest.

I got this for important documents that we currently have to fold up in our current lockbox. This is a good size, perfect size for papers. The lock works well and it's a solid box. Definitely a good fit for anyone needing a smaller lockbox. The only thing I can't, and hope I never have to, speak on is the fireproof claim. I'm just going to trust Amazon's description on this one.

It might be fireproof but there are spots not coated and there's nothing stopping from the contents from "cooking" should an unfortunate fire happen. It's good to put valuables all together though.

really happy with purchase. much heavier/more sturdy than I had expected. more roomy too. I cannot speak to "fireproof-ness" and hopefully will never find out! I purchased this more to use as a lock box for medications etc that could be dangerous to my 2yo grandson if he got his hands on them. I also like that the box is roomy-deep but not so deep that it doesn't fit under my bed. I took pictures of the box with a standard-size pair of fiskar scissors in the box so you can see how much room it actually offers.
