About this item

  • 2-1/2” Blue Shop Vacuum Hose Extension Kit: This incredibly stretchy 2-1/2'' dust vacuum hose extends up to 12 ft. in length, then collapses back into a compact 2 ft. stack for storage. The dust collector hose weighs 30% less than previous versions and is offered in a blue translucent color.
  • Helps To Prevent Tangling & Tripping: This dust collection hose allows you to reach most areas of your shop, without the hassle of a long, cumbersome hose. As you move closer to your shop vacuum, it retracts to take up excess slack, which helps prevent tangling and tripping.
  • Fits In Standard Shop Vac: With the two included swivel fittings, our dust collection hose can easily connect to your shop vacuum, optional dust right accessories, and many dust ports.
  • Durable Material: The shop vac hose is made of an amazingly elastic, flexible polymer which you can apply for a long time and stretches from approximately 2' to 12' in length.
  • What’s Included? This dust collection hose with fittings kit includes (1) Dust Right 2-1/2'' Diameter. Shop Vac Extension Hose (expands from 2' to 12'), (2) 2-1/2 Hose Clamps, and (2) Swivel fittings.

I can deal with the issues in other reviews by keeping a bungee on my vac to keep it stationary when fully extending the hose, but for over $50 is it too much to ask that the flimsy fittings come attached? Usually things ship disassembled to reduce package size, but the box is larger with loose ends. The photos imply that the ends are molded to accept the fittings, but you get a sawed off section of hose with the continuous reinforcing wire right up to the end. No instructions or installation tips either. I would love to know what they would charge if the fittings were already installed, because that's a cost they saved at my expense.

The hose is light, but not featherweight, and looks good. Theclamps supplied are just run-of-the-mill worm drive hose clamps so they go over the metal coil at one point, but that's par for the course. The ID is big enough that it should be an improvement on my shop vac. It does retract to a fairly short length which is great. The downside is that it take a lot of force to pull it to maximum length, which I found to be less than the "advertised" amount—about 10-11 feet as measured. The main problem is that it yanks the vac along with it well before the 8-9 foot mark, so there's the rub. It still pulls the vac around behind you, and the tension is always trying to pull the hose out of your hand. Still, I think it's a decent tradeoff for my use, the main advantage being it is definitely easier to store when retracted. I've only had it 2 days so I don't know if the hose will lose "memory" or it will continue to retract (and pull along with that). Would I buy one again knowing what I've learned so far? Probably. It's just not what I'd hoped it would be, so if your expectations are more realistic than mine, go ahead and get one. It's just a hose.

I think this would be is a better fit for a dust collection system, my shop vac flattened it. But it was easy to set up and of pretty good quality. I'll update my review after I get a dust collection system.

It seems like suction causes it to collapse, when I want it to expand to reach where i want to vacuum. Then, when not in use, it is loose and clumsy, not fully collapsed. It's a solid quality product, but functionally did not improve my life.

Need to have hose clamps to add attachments. The end will fray exposing the wire if you're not careful applying the hose clamp. I have this set up in my wood shop and It's working for me. I wish it was a little longer but I just add my shopvac hose and can reach all corners of the shop for clean up. Ironically, I snapped a photo and there is sawdust everywhere... that's from my son and I working on two different projects at the same time and being lazy!

You can change the ends. I have a Old Sears unit. The hose I had was bad. There hose end fit my unit but they are about 3/8 “ short in length - just a very little bit small. You could wrap duct tape from 12 to 6 and it would work. Or just change there ends with your old ones.
