For the price this is a great product. Fairly priced, easy to set up, comes already completely assembled. Just a plug in and you're good to go. Puts out good heat & the ambiance is nice. There is also a setting to just have the flame effect with no heat which I like.

I could not love this unit more! It's beautiful AND functional! Keeps my small space very comfortable in 20 degree weather without having to run my central heat. It fit perfectly in my unused fireplace. It's so nice, my husband wasn't even mad about the purchase (and he usually hates my gadgets!)! And the price is right too!

This item has a nice flame effect. The glow of the logs is adequate, but not as good as other models I have seen. But it has two big problems. There is no thermostat. The heater function is either ON or it's OFF. That's annoying, but I could live with it by just turning the heat off, and turning it on when I need it. Except for the other major problem, which is truly annoying: it does not remember your settings when you turn it off. Even if you turn it off, then turn it back on immediately, it changes to its default settings, which are maximum brightness, maximum speed, heat on. And there's no indication light to indicate the heat is on or off. To turn the heat on/off, the method is supposed to be: one click, on low; two clicks, on high; three clicks off. But without any indicator, there's no way to see whether your clicks on the remote have registered correctly. You have to approach the thing and feel whether heat is on or off...or wait until the room starts heating up. And then, if it's on, is it on low or high? How many clicks to turn it off? No way to know other than standing in front of it and clicking until the heat stops. BUT--the heat does not stop blowing immediately even if you have turned it off. It continues to blow for another 15 seconds or so (I suppose to dissipate the heat to prevent overheating) before actually shutting off. So the process is walk to the front, click; waits 20 seconds to see if it stops. If not repeat and wait again. It makes the idea of a remote rather useless, if you have to walk over and stand in front of it to know whether your clicking has had the desired effect. I didn't test it enough to figure out whether the default setting is low or high heat (although I think it is likely high, since the other defaults are all max brightness, speed, etc.), so I imagine you could try to just click the remote once if you don't want heat, and then hope for the best...

I got this as a replacement for my old one and it's such a wonderful upgrade. This fireplace looks lovely and gives my living room a cozy cozy feeling. It gives you a ton of control over how much light/heat/flickering you get. The controls are hidden away on the side of it, so you don't see them from the front. This fireplace insert is very nice and sturdy and very well made. The heater does a fantastic job at heating up the entire (fairly large) room pretty quickly. What I love most is that this fireplace is virtually silent and doesn't produce any weird hum like my old my did. I also appreciate finally having a remote control which was not the case with my old fireplace. I am VERY happy with this purchase and I wholeheartedly recommend it to others.
