20 amp smart battery charger
Problem 1: Can't reach the maximum charging current? To protect the battery, the system automatically identifies the battery voltage and selects the most appropriate current to charge the battery. When the battery voltage is low (for example, the 12V battery voltage is less than 11V), the system automatically charges the battery at the maximum current. (3 gears can adjust charging current, large current, fast charging)
Problem 2: The LifePO4 battery is not fully charged? When the battery is fully charged, it has a callback function, reducing the charge by about 1V, which is normal. Added a small current after full charge uninterrupted charging. 3: It is normal that the fan has wind.

This HTRC 20 charger is excellent and works really well. As a clarification, if you do a web search, it will mention the HTRC chargers that were catching on fire before summer 2024. This is not the same one and actually was produced after that defective charger was taken off the market. In addition to having various overheating protection safeguards, the highest temperature mine ever get is 80 degrees F and that is when they first start and within less than a minute they will go down to and run at approximately 72 degrees. I do live in a relatively cool area near the ocean in central California, so that may also contribute to the lower temperatures that my chargers keep. ( l also use them in my cement based garage) If the charger won't kick in when you plug it in, it may be that your LifePO4 battery has been overcharged and is asleep. If so, get an adaptive energy power supply device to wake it up. I own two of these HTRC chargers and I use them to charge each battery individually to full so they will stay balanced. (I am completely unable to use or figure out a multimeter so this works better for me and it clearly lists its voltage and capacity).

This charger eventually worked perfectly, but I made a dumb mistake and hope I can save you some heartache. When a new LiFePO battery with BMS arrives it is turned off for safe shipping and will turn on when it gets it's first charge. This "Smart Charger" senses the battery is attached to and charges appropriately. BUT IT CANNOT SENSE A TURNED OFF BATTERY. Therefore it doesn't charge. You'll have to find another way to start the charge. I used a portable solar panel, and once the battery sensed it was charging it turned itself on and the Smart Charger worked perfectly. Phew!

I live in Australia and it did not come with an Australian plug. Wasn't impressed with that.

20-Amp Smart Battery Charger,Lithium,LiFePO4,Lead-Acid(AGM/Gel/SLA..) Car Battery Charger,Trickle Charger, Maintainer/deep Cycle Charger,12V/20A and 24V/10AI bought two of these from Amazon to charge up my LiFePO4 batteries for my off grid cabin setup at 9000’ in the Colorado Rockies. They work amazing – charging those to somewhere around 14.4-14.8 volts automatically. Not only did they charge my LiFePO4 batteries, they also revived my deep cycle L-16 batteries that the LiFEPO4 batteries replaced. The L-16 were the standard for solar a few years ago, and my L-16’s are about 6 years old on their last legs, needing constant monitoring, gassing off of acid, and needing to be refilled with ever scarce (during the pandemic) distilled water. The charger revived 3 of what I thought were dead L-16’s (and topped off the other 5). I’m now going to move those down to my garage to use in another solar application that’s not so critical (cabin itself is critical for furnace heating on propane when we’re not there, therefore the swap out to LiFePO4’s from L-16’s). The charger itself: display is very bright, buttons are well made, it remembers which battery type you last charged although very easy to set that, you can select the amps for charging which is great for low amp charging of ATV or Snowmobile AGM smaller batteries. Last weekend I had to move my LiFePO4 batteries inside due to severe freezing conditions and used the two chargers to top them off and make their voltage reasonably close to the other LiFePO4 batteries in the system before placing them back on the solar/gen-charger system. Worked perfectly. Also, since my main system is 24v, I can hook the charger up to the main battery bank on the main pos/neg to charge the whole system if needed. The chargers also have that recovery mode for Deep Cycle Lead Acid batteries, and that also works for normal car/truck starting batteries as well. Recovery mode on mine took about a day for it to cycle the lead acid cells – you can see/hear the acid bubbling when it does it and need to keep eye on acid/water level every so often as it recharges them, like I said I though they were deader than a door nail and they are now revived. I’ve looked at other multi-battery-type chargers, and these chargers fit the bill for my dozens of batteries and currently 4 different battery types – LiFePO4, deep cycle, starting, and AGMs – the mode button allows you to select which battery type for the proper charging voltage and cycle. I’ll probably buy a few more for use at my main house in the city.

Very well constructed and easy to use. Four options for use and one must be selected for each use, but they are clearly labeled and easy to see. The selections are lithium, lead-acid, lithium with BMS, and repair. The bar graph displaying the level of charge present is automatic and useful, too. The current level is expressed as a percentage in the graph as a solid bar while the level to be charged to is expressed as moving 20% sections. The amperage applied to the charge is on a sliding switch and ranges from 3 amps in the first position, 5-10 in the second, and 20 in the third.I'm using it on a new Lithium with BMS. It came with a 40% charge which the charger quickly identified. I had it set on 3 amps and after about 4 hours, the battery was up to the 60% level. I switched it up one level and in another hour the battery was at 80%. That's where I left it as the battery will not be used for a couple of months. The BMS uses some power all the time, so I'll be checking the level again in a few weeks to see how much of a drain that usage is.I have not had occasion to use the repair function, but will be interested to see whether it can actually restore a battery well enough to use it for a short while when one shows as being dead or dangerously low.Then I used iton two lead acid batteries that I knew were good. Then it only showed "OFF" and a flashing empty battery icon. I left it on both four 24 hours and it didn't change. I called Amazon, got an agent who I couldn't understand and who couldn't understand me either. Ultimately she just said she would replace it.The manual that came with it showed the OFF message, but didn't explain it, so I couldn't figure out what it meant so I'll just try the replacement hoping for a better result. I'll report the result after I try the new one. If it works differently and well I'll up my rating to a five star.I got the replacement unit and determined that it would show the charge level on one battery but not the other and determined that Ii got the "END" message if the battery was fully charged and that both chargers are good, but the manual didn't give me enough info to help me understand that message.I revised my rating to five stars but still wish that manual was more explanatory.

Okay good charger but the cooling fan doesn't need to be running flat out in cool weather it should be pwm controlled not all out noise all the time. A resistor will be getting added to slow the fan speed to a reasonable speed
