Note: the SD card can be used only in one car, once it is installed to the navigation system for the first time, it will be locked with cars VIN. Navigation system SD cards cannot be used/switched from one vehicle to another.
Simplicity at its finest, this navigation SD card requires no complex setup. Simply insert it into your vehicle's navigation system, and you're ready to go.(**Please ensure you insert the card before switching on the engine.) Each map is built upon an initial foundational database, and subsequent updates are made on top of this base every year.
The database for this map is from 2021, hence some cards may display that particular database year.
However, the navigation card's map is updated to Q2 2024.

So Mazda wants about $450USD for the SD card to enable the navigation in their cars. Kind of obscene. Research lead me to 3-party cards and I purchased this one for my 2024 CX-5 Turbo Signature (if I had known about the SD card I would have tried to negotiate an OEM card with my purchase). I popped this card into the SD slot, waited a few minutes while I cleaned the windshield, started the car and push the navigation button. Was rewarded with a 3D map and zoomed in to my location. While I'll normally use Google maps and Android Auto for my navigation, it's good to have backup. What I REALLY like about the system is the traffic sign recognition is now enabled - so speed limit (and some other signs) are now displayed on my dash and head's up displays. I know there are some other providers at lesser cost, but I went with what seemed to be a more credible provider with more ratings.

As directions said, I put the SD card into my new CX-5 with the engine off. I started the car and hit the navigation button on the car. There were no streets on the screen, but the screen I expected did pop up. I had the SD card on my last CX-5 so I knew what it looked like. When the map was still not showing, I decided to ask for directions to my home. I got three numbers entered of my address and the screen went dark and then it said that an error had occurred and it was restarting. I guessed that it had been loading and I was too impatient. After 30 seconds, it showed the screen with roads all showing, on a map. Beautiful! I programmed my address and it told me how to drive home. And the voice is better than the 2021 version. Better pronouncing of roads and not as shrill. It's a good buy, and a huge savings from the $400 dealership price.

I ordered this for my daughter's CX5, installed it, and nothing happened. I bought a different brand for my wife's CX90, and it works perfectly.
