For starters I always make sure to grab the duckweed as soon as it arrives; I don't let it sit out.I've bought from this seller before, and in the past their duckweed has come with some gelatinous substance which I believe keeps most of the duckweed healthy during transit. No complaints, and I have always been happy with the duckweed I received. This time, the duckweed was sent in a small bag with some water in it. Not a big deal in the change, but normally I expect a ~50-70% mortality rate of the duckweed I receive and I think that's pretty reasonable. However, the entire batch I received was all browning and mostly dead (see image). I got it under my grow lamp hoping for at least one or two survivors. It's now 12 days after receiving the duckweed, and nearly all of them are dead, sunk, or on their way there. My goldfish love this stuff and I sadly have none to give them. I hope this was just a one off error on the seller's part, as I have been happy with the product before.

Although I was blown by how little the amount is in the bag... they're just the right amount for my 3 gallon needs (desktop guppy pond tub). They're healthy (some will color-up, post the journey here), and they're a beautiful addition. I've always used minor duckweed, but this major ducwkeed (giant), are much more manageable and topped-off my guppy home.

Tiny, tiny, not even a quarter of an inch in diameter. It was mostly the little leaves with no roots. I placed them in my pond and my fish ate them all in about 5 minutes.

Plants arrived in great condition. I got it for my fish / frog / turtle pond, but it would also be great In a tank. It doesn't seem like much now, but it's duckweed, and will grow quickly. The only "problem" is it's so small , if it rains and your pond overflows, there goes the duckweed.Edited to say, it's now the end of the season and the duck weed did well in my pond this summer. It multiplied quickly. A nice addition to the pond. I brought some in the house to over winter in a fish bowl.Edited again a few months later to say the duckweed I put in a fish bowl is doing great indoors! It's even made some tiny tiny baby duckweed.

The plants arrived healthy and were well shipped. That being said, I was very disappointed with the size. Just look at the photo for some idea what you’re really getting. I have a few 4” fish in my pond that are regularly fed. All of this was gone within a few hours. If you don’t have fish, this might be a good deal for you, as I’m pretty sure it grows and multiplies quickly. If you do have fish, don’t expect it to last more than a day.

These plants flourished amazingly in my 20 gallon freshwater fish tank. While the plants did show up with many broken roots, the roots grew back very quick. Within a very very short time period these plants had multiplied to cover the entire top of my tank. The only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 2 stars: while they did populate very quickly, the little ones now are slightly brown. This might be to my own error, or it might be because there are so many in the tank. With that being said, they are still populating and doing well.

So this was described as large duckweed and it's not. It's the same as regular duckweed. PLUS...I paid $9.29 for 20 plants which would fill a thimble. I normally go to my local nursery and pay about $6 and get a cup full. No water just plants. Unfortunately my nursery was out and I bought this! Can you say rip off?!
