The ball itself is well-designed. It has a grip point so when your fingers are wet, it's easy to grab. However, there is a metal screw in the ball that is not as rust-resistant as I had hoped. The silicone band is also not as strong as I expected. These are easy to see on a SCUBA tank.

The flats make it easy to grip. The band might be Silicone, or not, so, can't say how long before it turns gooey. (Latex rubber is cheaper than Silicone, but turns gooey).
