I spent 3 weeks in raja Ampat. Needed a reef hook numerous times. This one proved to be way too short for this diving. I wood recommend a reef hook that is at least 12 feet in length. Sounds long I know. But it isn’t.

Have been doing a lot of drift dives lately. Figured having a hook in the bag would not be a bad idea. Build quality is great and the lanyard will work fantastically.

My last reef hook was just a hook on a string. This one is much better. It expands to about 5 foot when fully taut, but when you have it clipped it compacts down to about 6 inches, which means you can clip it on to the anchor point of your BCD without having to worry about storing it in a pocket or using Velcro. It's light weight and strong. I know a lot of people prefer a single hook to a double, but I like that it spreads the weight out a little more. All in all, no complaints about it as as gear... as for cost, however, I will say this is just about the most expensive reef hook you can buy. I'm not sure if it's worth the extra money, but assuming that isn't a concern for you, go ahead and do it!

Took it with me on a drift dive off Boynton Beach Florida. Works great! Some dive charters will not allow it though because people have anchored it in live Coral and tear up the substrate. Absolutely need to anchor it onto rock, or dead Coral.
