I Used this while hiking. It fits easily in my fanny pack pocket and is very easy to use. It is also VERY loud.I guess it must be keeping the bears and moose away because I use it in the trail before I see any animals and I don’t see any animals. You should get approximately 50 uses per can

I have been out in the woods enough times, that I wonder what would happen if a bear crossed my path at the last second. Not like I will have this spray ready to go at all times, but just knowing I have it on me, gives me comfort and piece of mind, and would make me feel able to protect myself to a better degree.

While I can't attest to its effectiveness on bears, I can tell you it will deter coy-dogs or feral dogs. That is a problem on trails in my mountains and while I carry a weapon, I find that letting this off in areas of the trail known to be problematic works. I also used it at winter camp last month when a couple of feral's came snooping around and they bolted and did not return.The included holster is pretty much useless, and 1.7 oz. of air won't last long, but it is compact, easy to operate and inexpensive. NOTE: 123db can impair hearing,it is not a toy.

I’m an avid hiker and do a lot of hiking in the upper Midwest. We have over 25,000 black bears in our state and to be honest I think I only ran into a bear one time. They seem to be more scared of me than I am of them. Nonetheless, I decided to get this product so everyone would stop thinking it was wrong of me to not have some sort of protection from bears on my hikes. Note - if I were in grizzly bear country I would encourage this product even more.I like that the product is smaller. It won’t take up a lot of room in my backpack. I could even hook it to my front Fanny pack. Being a smaller size is a bonus and ideal.The case is not leather. It’s just as it looks in product photos so I’m not sure why product description says it’s leather. I took one star off because of that. It’s not that the case is bad, it’s just not as advertised.One concern is when putting it in the case it is a tight fit. Make sure the horn is facing out the side or you will set the siren off trying to press the carrying cases cover down. Kind of curious how often I may accidentally set this off.Product seems to be some sort of aerosol can. Maybe that’s how it’s done but I was a little surprised by that. I’m curious if this horn will only last so many times before having to be replaced.Overall, the product is nice and a case for it is handy. It is very loud and probably can be heard for a half mile. This product wouldn't be a bad idea to be used as a general self defense weapon for people and not just keeping animals away.The current USD asking price is 9.99 which is a pretty good deal in my opinion for what you get and to give you and others peace of mind. I’d recommend.
