Wow, this thing looks good! I was VERY surprised about how lightweight the system is. It appears to be well stitched and constructed.Loaded it with about 8 lb of food, and it seems to hold up great. Cord is Dyneema, which is fantastically durable and slides well over branches.

This ultralight food bag is excellent. It is well made, best materials, and is as good as it gets for campers who have issues with squirrels, bears, racoons that raid your food. I bought 2, and will give one to a backpacking friend. When he uses this, I will submit his review. I'm confident it will be stellar!

I can't stress enough how thrilled I am with this bear bag! Not only does it provide the utmost security against curious critters, but its waterproof design adds an extra layer of assurance in unpredictable weather conditions. What truly sets this apart is its size – it's remarkably spacious compared to other bear bags I've used. No more struggling to cram all my food into a tiny pouch! Now I can pack all my provisions without worrying about space constraints. Trust me, this is a game-changer for any backpacking adventure. Highly recommended!!

Nice and light weight food bag in my favorite color. Looking forward to taking it backpacking this summer! Bought a grey one for my husband.

When I am camping and going light (backpacking, kayaking, and most canoe camping), I like to have gear that's lightweight, well made, durable, well-thought-out, and multi-purpose. This bear bag kit ticks most (but not quite all) of those boxes. This kit is very good, but it's not quite perfect. In bear country, it is important to keep food and odiferous items away from camp and away from bears. There is some debate regarding the best way to do that (e.g., bear bags, canisters, bear-proof bags, etc.), but hanging food and other items in a bear bag is an often-used strategy. To do that, one needs some sort of a bag to hang and some line. A throwing bag and at least one carabiner are helpful additions to the kit. This kit comes with a well-made and featherweight-light ripstop nylon bag that doubles as a dry bag (making it great for kayaking and canoeing and ensuring that one's food will stay dry even if hanging in a rainstorm). The kit also contains 50' of braided nylon line (not paracord), a small non-locking lightweight carabiner (not for climbing), and a neoprene pouch that doubles as a rock pouch, which holds the cord and 'biner. The dry bag is excellent. It is not bear proof or even bear resistant. However it is about as lightweight as a bag could be while still durable and well made. The only thing that could be better about this bag would be if it also contained a purge/inflation valve so that air could be squeezed out of it (or added to it) once it was filled with food or other items. This valve would add a wee bit of weight, but would make the bag more versatile, especially for kayak and canoe camping. The cord that is provided is well made and works. However, it would be better if it were a bright color (rather than black). It would be even better if the cord were reflective. If the bag is suspended 200' from camp, it's important that it be easy to see and reflective cord would help both during the day and at night (important if you need to break camp in a hurry because of too-curious bears investigating your campsite). The carabiner that's provided works, but would be better if it were a locking 'biner so that there'd be no chance of it accidentally opening. The picture in the ad copy shows the bear bags hanging quite close to the tree from which they are suspended. A bear would be able to rip these to shreds. Ideally the bags should be about six feet from the tree. While the provided instructions call for tying off the bag to a tree or bush, I've read that some bears have learned to defeat this suspension method. There are other ways to hang bear bags. It would be helpful if the instructions provided links to websites, or at least suggestions to do a search, to see other methods.All-in-all, the kit is very good. I am pleased to have it and to recommend it. However, there are a number of small things that would make this bear bag kit even better.
