I had a handyman install this wooden handrail. In the upstairs hallway, there is about a 2.5 feet space that leads to the stairs. For an elderly husband, he was in need of a rail that will fill that space. The hand rail was placed and secured tightly. Now as he is ready to descend to the stairs, he has full control of his stability. The rail is an attractive light wood with dark metal for the attachment. The polish is fine. As I mentioned, the 2' length fits perfectly in that hallway. Nice sturdy rail and very helpful!

We have yet to put this up in our railing-less house but I'm looking forward to it.-Safe and stylish.-I wish the wood didn't have a clear finish to the surface but a quick sand should be enough to stain darker.-Nice clean look.-The current price point of about $60 seems reasonable but I'm not sure what this sort of thing normally costs.

This came will packaged, every item was individually wrapped in bubble wrap and taped together. To me that means they do not what to have their product damaged in transit and they care about quality. The wooden rail is nicely polished and coated with some sort of (what I think is) polyurethane. Both wooden rods are sanded completely smooth and are the exact same length. And both of these wooded handrails fit nicely into all of the brackets. All of the brackets are 100% painted and have that “robust” feel to them. The metal bass do have some burrs where they were threaded but that is just covered with paint, and I do not feel any sharp edges. But I can only speak for the set I received.I live in a house that is over 100 years old. And in New England really old homes that have staircases leading to the attic are not to today’s staircase building standards. These old staircases are steep, narrow and the tread depth is typically only 8 inches if that. This makes for a very dangerous decent. But this is where this handrail comes into play.I have been on the hunt for a round handrail for quite some time. especially a handrail with capture brackets. Most of todays brackets screw to the bottom of the handrail itself, which is great for most houses. But my house has a very narrow staircase (only 26 inches wide). And these capture brackets only protrude into my staircase 3 inches... most are almost 4 inches.Installation is easy as the hardware is supplied. However, in my situation, I was able to easily install the top half of the railing in my attic staircase. The supplied drywall anchors will not work for horse haired plastered walls. So, I will be off to the big box store to get the proper plaster wall anchors and complete this handrail.Overall, I am very happy with this round wooden handrail.

This handrail is smooth and easy to install. It will make my back stairs safer and effort to use.
