Celticbird 1.25" 2X Barlow Lens, ideal for high power observation.

The Celticbird 1.25 - inch 2X Barlow Lens doubles the power of any 1.25 - inch telescope eyepiece it's used with. The practical Celticbird 2x Barlow Lens effectively doubles the number of telescope eyepieces at your disposal. The Celticbird 2x Barlow Lens doubles the magnifying power of any 1.25- inch eyepiece, essentially dividing the eyepiece's focal length by a factor of 2.

For example: Using a 25mm eyepiece in the Celticbird 2x Barlow provides the same magnification a 12.5mm eyepiece would normally exhibit (25 / 2 = 12.5). Using this simple formula, you can easily determine how each of your 1.25- inch telescope eyepieces will perform when inserted in the Celticbird 2x Barlow Lens. A 20mm ocular will behave like a 10mm eyepiece; a 6mm eyepiece will provide the magnification of a 3mm eyepiece, and so on.

Well packaged, caps fit very well. Will be testing it out tonight. Looks like clear sky's.

The ring where the lens is held is plastic, while the main tube / eyepiece holder is metal.Optical quality is average, but the most striking feature is that the 5x magnification is not true. I compared with other Barlows I own and this one magnifies just a bit, maybe between 1.25x and 1.5x .I know the price is cheap, but it does not deliver it's main feature as advertised.

Using it with my plossl eyepieces, and measuring the field of view, it averaged 2.03X. As I changed to wider field of view eyepieces the magnification increased about 2.1X @ 60 afov, 2.2X @ 68-72 afov and 2.3X @ 76-82 afov. The images with the barlow were about 90% as good as my expensive barlows. A plus is the T-ring threads for photography. Summary! Very good and functional for the price.
