Brass Compression Ring

The built-in two compression rings are fixed by two thumbscrews respectively, which can fix your eyepiece on the surface, not only at a point. This type of clamping provides your eyepieces with optimum protection from scratches or deep grooves.

Anti Falling Safety Groove

The lens has a circle of safety groove designed for safety connection, which can make the connection more firm when you connect with 2" accessories. Safety groove to prevent lens falling out, Avoid unnecessary drops, it's more convenient to use.

Non-Slip Rubber Soft Shell

A ring of anti-skid rubber is designed on the lens to provide good friction, which means that you don't have to worry about falling even if you wear gloves to use the Barlow lens. At the same time, the product is more textured and meets your exquisite requirements for the details of the appearance.

The Alstar 2” Barlow lens provides a good image with high contrast. The use of ED glass means that visible colour aberrations a re reduced to a minimum with the image appearing substantially sharper. In addition, all lens surfaces have been provided with a green multi-coating to reduce reflections.

  • Astrophotography with The Barlow Lens

The 2“diameter also allows you to insert your 2'” eyepieces into the Barlow, doubling their magnification. The large lens diameter means you will notice no shadowing in the image. You can also use the Barlow lens for astrophotography. Especially for compact objects, sometimes more focal length is required in order for them to be seen at a reasonable size in the image. The big plus: There is also no shadowing apparent on small image format camera chips.

  • Still More Possibilities

One does not always need the focal length to be doubled. It is also possible to use just one section of this Barlow lens in order to get a magnification factor of something like 1.5X.The lower Barlow element can simply be unscrewed and then screwed into any 2” eyepiece.This Barlow element is correctly threaded for this purpose.There is a 2“ filter thread provided on the lower part of the Barlow lens and on the reducer adapter for using your filters.

Item very well packed and shipped quickly. Works well as a barlow. Lens has black spot/blemish right in the middle which is why i'm only giving 3 stars.

This is the exact same as the Orion 2" Barlow at a fraction of the cost. Alstar Optics is highly recommended. The housing that holds the lens element is nice and light too .

This product excelled my expectations...Gave wonderful views of Jupiter and Saturn when paired with my 2" 26mm and 15mm eyepieces. I like the option of being able to switch to 1.25 eyepieces easily.
