2" eyepieces are pricey. This Barlow offers you some flexibility adding to the wide angle viewing experience. Larger Dobsonian telescopes come with 28, 30, or 38mm 2" EPs. This effectively divides those focal lengths to give more magnification while still enjoying the immersive 2" experience. The other option is using a 2"x1.25" adapter to get the same magnifications, but in a smaller eyepiece. It's a no-brainer to me. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Came in a nice bolt case as well. Looks to be well built and the 2x Barlow is removable at the bottom so can be used in other configurations or conflagrations as needed!

I wanted this to use at the objective end of a 2-inch optical train, and this works well. I actually only wanted the lens, but could not find a 2" barlow without a tube. The lens come off and screws into plain-ol' 2" filter threads...so I bought this. I've so far placed this on the objective end of a start diagonal with the camera on the eyepiece end and have gotten good results on Jupiter and Saturn. I've yet to see how much T extension I can put between the camera and the diagonal and still get focus (and even higher magnification).

It’s 3 stars just for this item not the whole store.I just received this in the mail about 10 minutes ago. Opened the package and the box was damaged, I opened the box and the lens was packaged well on the inside. However when I opened the inside packaging and took the covers off I see these scratches!I got back on here and did a product exchange and the replacement is due to arrive in just 2 days when this one took about 5. So I’m happy they expedited shipping on the replacement. The quality of the rest of the Barlow very good. Seems sturdy and well made. I can’t comment on how well the lens actually is at this time but I’m sure it will be just fine on the replacement.Over all, anything I’ve ever bought from astromainia has been great for the price. This will not stop me from buying from them. At least not yet.Update:The new one came in and it’s not scratched.

Overall, it is a good Barlow for the price. I was able to use it in conjunction with my Canon EOS with no problems. My only complaint would be the sloppy adhesive job around the edges of the lens glass. The rest of the construction was fine.

The product enabled me to use a 2" eyepiece on a 1.25" telescope. My telescope is 1.25" and I needed this adapter to enable me to accommodate a 2" 2.5X Astromania Barlow lens on my 1.25" telescope. When the items arrived I tried it on the telescope and I couldn't get the Barlow lens to focus no matter what I did. I tried it on terrestrial which usually works quite well but it still didn't focus so I figured the setup I had was incompatible with a 1.25" telescope and sent it back asking for a refund. Now the product itself was fine. I'm sure it works great with a 2" telescope. The construction of the lens/adapter was great. It felt like it was made of metal; however, it was rather heavy as if it was made for a much bigger more expensive telescope. My telescope was neither. Like I said it was my mistake ordering something that I felt might not work with what I had. Would I recommend it to others? Yes. I'm sure it would work great on a larger, better-designed 2" telescope. Also, customer service was great and they issued a prompt refund once they go a notification from Khols (one of their drop-off points) that the items were turned over to them for shipping. Great job AMAZON!!

for value 5 starsusing my 1.25" inch polosi it looks great.very bright and as expected no vignetting.it's got a nice low profile, 3/16", 1.25/2" adapter I can use with my other gear.I have one but it's closer to 3/8" adapter.this might be important to other like me moving to a 2" helical focuser.it's has copper colored compression rings to hold the lenses/adapters in place.the lens group unscrews from the barlow and it's nice as you can then screw the lens group into:see attached photos. - the 1.25/2" adapter (supplied with this barlow). - my 2" prime camera/eos adapter. - or use as intended screwed into the barlow lens.I live in a big city were it never gets dark and the moon is new and the air is pretty mucky today, so, also attached is a pic using this lens group screwed onto my 2" prime eos/camera adapter of a building top about 2.5 miles away.for the money and images, I'd recommend it.don't judge based on my supplied photo of the building top as I have a 8" f5.9 quickly slopped together dob that picture is through. Why ? It has a home built push/pull focuser(aluminum tube sliding in a pvc tube) which is not very accurate nor easy to get into focus especially for photos. It only cost $12 to build.the photo is full frame and I see no vignetting.photo details: prime f stop/ie open, 1/160sec, asa 400, eos xsi, 8" f/5.9 dobgimp process of cr2/raw image: auto wb and 32 sharpen.I wanted to see how difficult and exacting the scope build had to be and now that I know it's not, I'm moving on to a better build with real helical focuser and centered optics.
