I really like this height gauge. The double beams have a very fine pitch rack cut into them and must have counter rotating pinion gears that work in the racks. It moves very smoothly and is very accurate. The only thing that I wish was different is that the display always stays on unless I turn it off, it would be nice if there was an auto - power off feature, but I guess that would be of limited usefulness anyway because LCD displays use nearly no power, the memory probably uses more power than the LCD. It does remember it's set point when you turn it off and then back on again which is very nice as I don't need to keep setting the zero point.I'm using it to measure how far tools protrude from the collet of the tool holders for CNC Routers and CNC Milling Machines. The machines do have tool height sensors on them but I need very accurate measurements from the collet nut to the end of the tool, and since the nut will be at different positions for different collets and tools, and the machine sensor only cares about the end of the tool, I need to just measure it so my simulations are accurate, and this height gauge works perfectly for this purpose.

Is more accurate then expected and for the price can't beat it. Use it everyday for machining. Definitely would recommend to anyone.
