I have always been just a little bit under 5'9". When I first put this together It showed I was just barely 5'8". The instructions could ave been much better on setting the accuracy. After putting the measuring device together, you will need a tape measure. You can then use the screw on the side of the adjuster to raise or lower the piece that will sit on the persons head so that it matches the reading on the measurement bar. Mine is still off by 1/8". I have the head portion in the lowest position and it still needs to be lowered that amount to make it accurate. I don't know if there are further adjustments that can be made to offset this as the instructions did not detail this very well.

I got this so my kids could measure themselves as they grew and they thought it was fun to use like they are at the doctors. Not sure if this would really be something I would seak out and buy but if you are in the market for a doctors office type height measurer thing I would guess this ones as good as any.
