I have an old 6 foot tall gate and the bolts inside of the hinges that were supposed to be welded on by somebody else weren't really welded on very good at all and they kept slipping out so I wanted to get some kind of big strong bolts to put inside with the heads on the top so they wouldn't just slip out the bottoms so I ordered some grade 3/4" thick 8" long bolts with these specific nuts because they said they won't slip off by themselves very easily if at all because I was contemplating on using washers also but I bought 8 inch bolts that extend 2 inches below my 6 inch hinges because I didn't want the threads to be getting disrupted when the gate opens and closes so only about 1/2" inch of the threads are within the hinge but I have 2" inches of threads on the bottom that stick out of my 6 inch long hinges of which I bought 8" long bolts for instead of just buying 6" inch long bolts that way I could use nuts at the bottom but just dont tighten them very tight so the hinges will still twist fine but I bought these nuts that were slightly more expensive than other ones because they say they stay on better and I think they were well worth the money because you can't even tighten them with your fingers really at all you have to use wrenches and that's a good thing because I don't think they will come off very easily at all if ever like they claim and it would take somebody else a little while to do it when most people don't really like to work too hard so they were well worth the money for me for sure and I highly recommend them!

Great addition to the bolt bin, running low and this 25 pack put me back in good shape. The are your standard flange nuts, no issues with the threads and wrench size says they are accurate there too.

I got some of these in 2 different sizes, and they are different in how they function. They say they are flanged lock nuts (I don't recall seeing nuts that are both). Usually flange nuts are serrated at the base and that is the locking mechanism. The smaller 3/8-16 nuts threaded smoothly all the way through, but the 1/2" nuts jamb when you get to the last thread. I'm not sure which one is correct, but the description for both is the same so one's right and one isn't

I purchase and use a lot of fasteners and comparing these to others I consider them to be good quality overall. Nice clean/even zinc plating which is frequently compromised on less expensive fasteners. The thread pitch is correct/as advertised and I received grade 8 as stated in the listing. If you need 7/16-14 lock nuts, these will do the trick!

I usually have nothing but good things to say about Makers Bolt's products. These things are packaged and look great. However, they missed the mark on quality control. When you thread these, they jam near full depth of the nut. That isn't the way the nut should work. It's not a ny-loc! Something is wrong with the threading process for these and they are basically garbage (I just threw mine out since I don't get to return on Vine).
