Miter Box Safety

When cutting material with a miter saw with a miter box, there are several ways to ensure user safety. Even when using a miter saw with the blade primarily located inside the box, the user should avoid extending the thumb out of the supporting hand. Instead, place your thumb next to or under the palm of your hand to prevent accidental cutting.

Tips:

Make sure the miter box is clean from debris and gunk. The accumulation in the box will prevent the workpiece from sitting flat, affecting the cutting accuracy. Blow away sawdust with compressed air. Also, wipe any adhesives that might squeeze out while clamping miter joints near the box.

  • Replace or sharpen the saw when it becomes dull.
  • Keep dust, dirt, debris, and adhesive clear of the miter box.

Very small mitre box used for small scale hobby. One has to use a saw that is thin enough to slide in between the slots of the mitre box in order to be able to cut the wood or plastic material. Found a medium kerf razor saw at a hobby railroad shop to do the job. The saw we used has 24 teeth per inch. We screwed the mitre box in place on a wooden table made from a shipping pallet. Using the smaller saw and securing the box in place the box the box functions well.

This is very handy small jig for cutting 45 degree angles it is only small so suitable for small picture frames or in my case carpet bar to go around a floor mat fitted into the carpet but definitely nice and sturdy so I think it's value for money

The miter box is ok, but I would prefer than it had 4 tabs or feet (one on each corner) where you could use a clamp to hold it to a bench top. It does provide screw holes for mounting but I don't want to put holes in my workbench.

At first I wanted to return it BUT then I found out that I was the problem. Yes, the spaces for the saw in this Hanpex aluminium miter box are tight BUT it brings more precision; Just make sure you align gently and you'll get perfect angles. Other Plastic Mitter box's spaces are too wide makes the saw's blade run from left to right and doesn't make neat angles. I thought writing my experience here would be the best thing I could do. Thank you, I finally give this Hanpex Metal small Aluminium a 10 out of 10,

I purchased this to cut plastic with a hacksaw. The saw slots are too loose, making it hard to cut straight. If you used a normal wood saw I think it would be great.

A little light weight- could be heavier gauge. Good price for product though. Would recommend .

Although you don't expect a mitre box this size to be especially tough, this one is especially flimsy. There are other versions of this tool that are much more well made for a few dollars more. I don't recommend ordering this.
