First I drill a small hole half the size of the jewel being flush mounted, then that hole is burred out to the gem size using a bal burr. The last step involves this tool where the diameter is recessed to make the 90 degree wall flush with the gem that will be pushed in using a burnishing tool. Already did one, and Iโm happy with the initial results. See the details in the description for sizes. I tested the 3mm.

Excellent for cutting seats for jump rings and for prong channels in gem settings. I'll update if they fall apart after five uses but so far so good.

This small sizes are definitely NOT a bad thing, in fact, I love that I can round the ends of smaller wire. That being said, I bought 14 gauge copper and the biggest cup is still just a TAD too small. LOL. So I'll have to buy some more and pay CLOSER attention to sizes. I really do love how small these get since I make lots of earring wires too. If you use a Dremel, you will need to make sure you have a collet that fits the shaft. I buy a separate adjustable attachment end for all of my Dremel tools so that collets are not a requirement and make for easy bit swapping.

I use these to set round cut stones into my projects and they work well. The burrs cut cleanly and the stones fit well. They appear durable and I am confident they will last.
