Astrophotography is an expensive hobby. There. It's been said. Now that that's out of the way, I fully understand that we want to cut corners wherever we can and as someone who bought this after buying two other, cheaper scopes, can say that this isn't that corner to cut. Double that sentiment if you are tracking. It's not that the optics are that much better than the other, cheaper ones at some hugely measurable spec. It's that this one is well built and accurate.Example: two other spotting scopes that I purchased both had the same two issues: If you had the camera connected while you are focusing the scope, any of the stars in view will rotate around, showing that the camera mount to the focus threads, to the lens aren't square/parallel. Once you have it focused, it really isn't that big of a deal but something to think about. Tie that to the base on the others weren't exactly square to the tube and no matter how much you adjust them, it's pretty tricky to get them to align with where your main scope is pointing. Yes, you can make them work and yes, you can still track with the others. Both of those take more work than is necessary. With this one, it's just lined up and square. First setup for me was to connect it to the dovetail, focus it, make some lateral adjustments, and I was off to the races and haven't had to adjust it again. If you're just getting started in the astrophotography journey, this sounds like not a big deal. Trust, I thought the same thing when I started. Once you're at a point where you've got your routines, it starts to be one of those things that you don't want added to the huge list of other things you have to think about and adjust to do this hobby that we all hate except for the time we're looking at these pictures we are taking of things so far away that the objects in our pictures are from a time before any of us were born, some of which before people.

I’m a fan of the ZWO cameras I have, and the ASI Air Plus. I really wanted to love this guide scope too, but the machining on the threaded parts for focusing (black lens holder) is very loose and noisy when trying to obtain focus.Once tightened with the threaded red locking ring it seems to be staying in place, so possibly it’s not an issue as it won’t have to be adjusted often.I’m new to guide scopes (this is my first to use) and expected better quality. I had previously purchased a Svbony 60mm which included a helical focuser, but it was too large for my Celestron 8GPS SCT. Never got to use it, but for less money the Svbony seemed to be a far better guide scope. That being said, this small guide scope fits, and works great when using the telescope at F2 with Fastar.

Optical quality is terrible. I know its a guide scope but the optical flaws are extraordinary. Hard to guide with at very short focal lenths.

great guide scope for the money. works perfect with my ZWO ASI 120 camera. wish there was a better way to focus it.
