The pool at my last home was a large rectangle with steps. When using it on that style pool, it worked great, minus the steps. We just put a fiberglass pool in at our new home that has curves all over and it gets stuck every time on my steps. When it gets to the sides of the pool they are so curvy that it falls down to the bottom of the pool, every time on every wall! So, basically,it’s useless for a pool with lots of curves. I gave it a combined score of three because on my old pool it did work very well on this pool not at all.

This will be my third one in 20 years - I get an average of 10 years out of a unit. So you might guess I really like this cleaner - and I do. We have a "play pool" - shallow - 3.5ft at either end, 5' in the middle. I also have one of those fancy programmable pumps (required by california law) - and can run the cleaner using about 400W instead of the 2KW my old single speed pump wanted. It just chugs along day after day without any issues until the "flappy" part gets stiff. Just replace the part (it's trivial, takes about 5 minutes, and most of that is reeling in the cleaner) that makes it jerk at least once a year - and spend a little extra and get the OEM version. I didn't the first few times, and there is a noticeable difference in the amount of flow required to get the unit to start moving. As in the clones require up to 50% increase in flow rate just to operate.

I had a really expensive pool cleaner that was really bad. I got this one and it seemed pretty simple but that translates to effectiveness. It does not get stuck in corners, does not clog on pieces of gravel and needs no maintenance! I would buy again!

After reading several glowing reviews, I decided to try this out and stop using my older standalone robot. Cleaning the filters on the robot is a pain. Now I'm trading every run cleaning for dirtier main pool filters that will require more cleaning. But, this thing did an amazing job on my 17,000 gallon kidney shaped pool. It prefers to stay on the shallow side (closer to the skimmer) and not venture to the deep end at times.Pros:Does a great job of getting algea from the bottom of the pool.Doesn't need cleaning every day.Relatively inexpensiveVery simple design with cheap replacement parts available from 3rd parties.Cons:Needs an additional section or 2 of hoses to really reach the deep end.A single rock in the pool will render it useless until it's cleared.Your main filters will require more frequent cleaning

We had a Zodiac Pacer, it worked flawlessly for 16 years in a rectangular pool with 2 external stair cases (outside of the rectangle on both ends of one of the long sides) and a dedicated suction side port, very rarely it would get hung up at one of stair corners but would always manage to free itself. We replaced the valve 4 times, the fin twice and the shoe once which is to be expected considering it was always in the SoCal pool year round. We moved to a new home with a free form pool with an internal stair case and a dedicated suction port, brought our Pacer with us, I set the suction and dropped It in, off it went. Within 5 minutes it was hung up on the bottom step and it stayed there for hours ( I wanted to see if it would free itself, it did not). So began hours & hours of suction adjustment, adjusting weight positions, return flow direction, various size deflector rings etc. I ultimately realized that it was the pool not the cleaner that was at fault. I wanted to avoid the gear driven cleaners because they are fragile and require parts replacements often, and the robotic versions, well $$$$I could higher someone to clean it! Reluctantly I decided on the G3 thinking it was basically the same design and it will probably do the same thing. We received it (with an extra fin) I assembled it, set the section and dropped it in. It cruised around the pool in a random pattern, much quieter than the Pacer and when it got to the bottom stair it spent a little time cleaning the corner and went on its way. Next time around it went up to the second stair and cleaned it. We have had it operating for a month now and it has not hung up once and has continued on a random pattern and kept the entire pool including the walls clean. The engineers have done there homework on the G3 Every pool is different as are the cleaners, but the G3 is simple, reliable and effective I would recommend it.

Works great, hose connection is a little loose at the vacuum connector. Once irt gets going, does great keeping the pool clean.

I am super happy with the quality of this product and the job it does. I was so tired of wasting my money on $400+ vacs that didn't do their job right, or constantly required maintenance, etc. This bad boy sucks up everything and climbs the walls of my pool, scrubbing along the way, eliminating my need to have to pick up a pool brush. I love this thing. My pool looks fantastic and this thing works better than it's more expensive competitors. Would buy again and again. Easy to hook up, no difficult parts to repair or maintain, perfect! Wish I hadn't wasted all those hundreds of dollars on the others.... thumbs up!
