It is made better than Kats because there is only one o-ring instead of two(at least for the 4.0l Inline 6). This makes for 1 less place for it to leak and it was easier to install.

Installed on my 99 Jeep Cherokee XJ in about an hour. Install was pretty smooth, and the biggest time suck was refilling the coolant system and bleeding it.On the XJ I only had to remove the airbox to get to the front freeze plug. I torqued to spec and got no leaks.

Installed in 99 Jeep XJ. Install was easy took around 30 minutes, I put RtV around the o ring just as a precaution. No leaks and works good. On a 0*f morning my temp gauge reads just above 100* immediately after starting.

Quality heater from Zerostart, warms the car up nicely in the morning. I plan on using a timer to start the unit in the morning hours. One flaw was the tie-down bolt become stripped when I was tightening the anchor with just a small wrench. The bolt never became tight, it just outright pulled the threads off. In my opinion, this was due to poor and/or bad material of the bolt. I used a stainless steel M5x0.8 in its place. Worked well. I'm in contact with ZeroStart to correct the issue.

Installation was easy, I punched the freeze cap inwards all the way instead of just trying to get an edge to pull out with lock pliers.. That was fine as on the Cherokee 4.0 it won't (didn't see to be, at least) fall down into anything. Just use lock pliers on it and yank it out. When I turn the key on after this is on for an hour after sitting overnight in 20f temps, the temp gauge is already at 150f. Makes starting so much nicer.

With recent weather in the single digits or below zero Fahrenheit I had been using an oil pan heater that sticks to the pan with a magnet. It became a chore crawling under the vehicle to put the heater on each night so I purchased and installed this engine block heater. The installation it was surprisingly easy. The biggest effort was flushing and refilling the cooling system. The actual heater installation was rather simple. I just needed to remove the air filter box on my Jeep and I was able to access the freeze plug to install the heater. I plug he heater into a timer so that my car heats up for about three hours in the morning before it's time for me to leave. It starts right away and the engine is warm in a few minutes. If you are handy with car repairs, this heater is a great choice.

Works perfect as expected. The install on my 04 Wrangler TJ was a little challenging as the #1 freeze plug is covered by the PS pump and AC compressor. I was able to move the PS pump out of the way, remove the rear AC bracket, and install the heater while leaving the compressor in place. Start to finish was about 3 hours. As for the reviewer who said that it leaked from the bolt- that's because he overtightened it. Tip- apply plumbers silicone grease to the block and the oring to assist in pushing the heater in place. I used a 30" long screwdriver to push it in place and then held it in while tightening the screw with my other hand. A couple scraped knuckles, but easier than removing the compressor. I plug the heater into a timer to allow it to heat at 4:00am so that it is warm when I leave for work.
