when installed at the six o clock position the cord goes straight up right into the exhaust manifold. seems backwards to me, shouldnt the cord go down and away from the hot exhaust manifold? guess i should expect burnt up cords! obviously a fitment issue.

Fits in a 3.9 Dakota, mostly ez installation. I’ve had it in for a week and no leaks. Keeps the engine warm overnight.

I installed this on a 1995 grand Cherokee with the 5.2l v8. It went in really easily. Honestly the only difficult part of the install process was removing the old freeze plug. I use it with an outdoor timer so its not always on. I have it set so it turns on 30 mins before I drive my car. It won't get the car up to operating temperature but thats not what its designed to do. The car will normally take 30 mins of driving on very cold days (below freezing) to warm up. With this product it cuts it down to 5 mins which is a game changer for my comfort

Good quality, removed after two years for engine re-build, and re-installed and still great.

To keep your vehicle warm on those nasty, nasty cold nights! Makes starting the truck easier on the engine and faster warm ups for heat in the cab. Works the way it should!

Works great. Install was a pain, cramped qtrs, and a stubborn plug to remove on a transverse engine. Heats up fine, fast temp rise. Does what it is supposed to. No lube included for O ring, be sure to use a silicone based grease (petroleum based will attack seal, and you get to do that fun job again). It would be nice if the cord were just a foot or so longer, finding a route that is safe from damage, and short enough to not require opening bonnet to plug-in is a bit of a challenge.Have used both Kat's and zerostart, I like these better, a little easier to get into block. (Bigger O-ring that stays in groove, and is harder to accidentally pinch)

Ordered for a 3 cylinder Mitsubishi Diesel engine, and this is what they? said fits, this is to big, needed a 1 3/8 inch block Heater plug

Good product, works well. Would have been 5 stars if the power plug on the heater had been the same as the factory unit, as it is you will have to remove the old power cable (if fitted) and run the new one to an appropriate location, which on our Durango was actually more of a headache than fitting the unit itself.

I installed this on an old airport tug with a Chrysler flat 6 engine. The freeze plugs were an older style with an inner shoulder that was designed to hold a concave steel cup plug. The hard part was getting the retention flange or wings inside the inner ring and then expanded to hold the heater in. It didn't seat in all the way against the freeze plug outer lip, but the O-ring did fit inside the block and the freeze plug fit tight against the inner ring. If all that makes sense. Short answer, it worked, doesn't leak and I'm happy.
