This is a perfect little cutter for my office! It’s not heavy duty but works for small projects that scissors aren’t best for.

This paper cutter is lightweight and portable; both good attributes. It is also very easy to use, albeit I really cannot cut more than one piece of paper at a time. This did not come with any extra blades, and I’m fearful this one won’t stay sharp for long. I ordered this cutter to replace my old one, but I think this will now just be a spare one I keep at work.

This paper cutter is a mixed bag of good utility but lower manufacturing/build quality. It is made of mostly thin, light plastic parts which probably won't stand up to a lot of abuse. It is definitely not a high-volume paper cutter. To use it, you lift the clear plastic guard/cutter mechanism and put your paper under it. After you set up your paper, you let the guard down, then while applying pressure, slide the cutting mechanism across the paper. In my tests, it did cut straight edges easily. I tested it up to four standard 20 pound sheets of copy paper. At three sheets, it cut reasonably easily. At four sheets, it had trouble getting through all of them. I would recommend only using it for one, maybe two, sheets at a time. if you have thicker paper, it'll handle just one. It definitely isn't for cardboard or card stock. You need a guillotine-style paper cutter for heavy card stock.Over time, these sliding-type of paper cutters have blades that get dull. I'm not sure if it is possible or easy to replace the blade. The one major thing this paper cutter has going for it is the reason I got it in the first place. It will cut 18-inch wide sheets. Most consumer paper cutters are good for up to 12 inches, which is okay for office use, but some crafts use wider paper and this cutter would work for those purposes. If you decide to buy this for the 18" cutting width, just treat it with care and be aware that there is a limited total number of cuts it will do before the blade needs replacing. Finding a replacement blade may be hard to do. I haven't looked, but it doesn't appear to be a standard blade.

The first one I got for this was broken. I was sent and replacement and it’s working really really well. It cut really long paper and it cut well. It was actually a lifesaver. I didn’t even I went because the person did not do their job and I ended up having to use this to cut so much item and such little time. We cut cardboard paper with regular paper with it we vinyls and it it cut it well.I really like the length of this as well as having the measurement and the line, so the paper can look straighter. It is easy to use. It came in the box with some protection around it. It is not a lot of protection because the first one was broken. However, the second one was very lucky and it is working well so far.All in all, I recommend this if I need it, I’ll buy it again.

The ZEQUAN 18” Paper Cutter should lose some rating points simply because it does not have a manual or even an instruction sheet and if you have been using a guillotine style cutter some tips are essential for transitioning to the slider style. Most important is to understand that the little metal blade inside the orange slider is slightly recessed above the clear plastic track. You must push it down slightly prior to cutting to have it fully engaged. Not knowing this may account for any reviews complaining about the difficulty cutting anything thicker than a single sheet of paper. I have been using it on heavy card stock and on magazine backer boards. It cuts them easily as long as the keep the blade fully extended. The product detail page mentions several brands of replacement blades that will work in this cutter. These replacements are relatively inexpensive and are easy to install although the lack of instructions leaves you to puzzle out the process. All it takes is to slightly bend one side of the plastic track outward, this allows you to lift out the orange blade and to press in its replacement. But without instructions you will likely flail around trying to remove the entire plastic track or one of the end caps.It is great to have 18 inches of cutting length as most platform cutters are 15 inches or less. Unfortunately it is useless for anything greater than 18 inches. A guillotine cutter at least lets you cut up to 30 inches by making two cuts that meet in the middle. A challenging process but reliable enough if you take your time.

This arrived in its own product box but there was no leaflet included. As soon as I took it out of the box I was disappointed at how plasticky and bendy this is. I used normal printer paper to see how well it cuts. I managed to get this to cut through 8 pages, unfortunately I do not know the caliper of the paper that I used (this was regular printing paper). To place the paper on the cutter you lift up the hinged clear plastic ruler/blade holder at the top up and place the paper to the side against the left margin ridge. Put the clear plastic ruler/blade holder down (which sort of holds the paper in place) slide the orange knob that holds the blade across and press down as you go. The arm at the bottom of the cutter swings out but it is a little stiff to move, you can use this to measure and cut larger pieces of paper. The major design flaw with this arm (in my opinion) is that the edge/margin ridge where you place the paper against to get a straight cut is not in line with the main cutting apparatus as there is a little step, see picture. This may not be a problem for some people but I thought it was worth pointing this out. I have cut several pieces of paper already and the blade is still holding up. They do mention that "Firbon paper cutter replacement blade" can be purchased and I did do a search for these. You can get 5 in a pack for around $13. This cutter is okay except considering this is made from very cheap materials this is so overpriced which is why I have decided to give this a 3 star rating. If you are looking for something that will last a while I would consider paying a little more and purchasing a more robust model.
