Used to drill holes on steel pipe and plates. No problem with it. Would buy again.

The build quality of the electric controls box is not good. It was loose and is pretty thin. I didn't bother to try to tighten it up. The electrical controls box is also pretty flimsy... very thin wall metal that I doubt would survive much jostling. The tool itself is pretty heavy... Maybe 20-30lbs. There's no case for it, so best to hold on to the styrofoam and cardboard that it ships in if you have to move it around or keep it in a job box that has other tools in it.The cord does not appear to be a UL listed cord, kinda par for the course for Chinese tools. The cord will probably be safe to use for a long time, but who knows what it is made of or for how long. The cutting fluid reservoir mounting will definitely not survive travel or rough handling. It should definitely be removed when you move it to a job or put it away with other tools. That isn't hard, but it takes a couple of minutes and care with small parts. Magnet needs fairly stiff steel beneath it to make it feel like it won't move. I used some scrap to make a platform, as what I was mounting the drill to was a bit too flimsy to drill what I was drilling. Definitely use safety straps if you are drilling in a horizontal application.I've only made 7/8" cuts with it, but I've made about a hundred. Drilled in a vertical orientation. The motor had no trouble with this size. The motor is pretty loud. I wanted hearing protection when I used it, but you might not need it.In all, I feel like I got what I paid for. Paying twice or three times (or four or five!) as much for a higher quality drill I had hoped for the money that it would handle one job without breaking down, and it did that. If it finishes another job or two like the last one, I'll feel like I got a good deal, but I know that I'll have to be very careful with it and baby it, because it feels fragile despite its heft.

My drill worked really well and it suprised me for the type of environment that I was using it in, I used it in a welding shop that I work for and for the most part it worked great, it is definitely not heavy duty enough for hard work, that being said I think it would be a great tool for a home shop

Bought this drill in September of 2022 for a specific project and to worked pretty well. For the price it’s listed at it is a good mag drill to get through a project or two if you don’t have the cash to spend on a more expensive one.Now for me to nitpick. The magnet seems pretty strong when you pull on it but if you put just a little too much pressure on it trying to feed a drill bit or hole saw or if you push too hard sideways then it will come off. I also burned it up trying to run a 2 1/2” hole saw through 3/8 plate.Did it work for what I bought it for? AbsolutelyWould I recommend it? Heck yeahWould I buy it again? Probably not for what i do.Over all it’s a great unit for the price but if you have a bit more to spend find one slightly better.

I was debating on whether to buy this drill after reading the reviews, some good, some bad. I needed a mag drill and was short on cash so the 1000 dollar ones were out of the question. I decided to try it. I was adding an air lift axle under a dump truck and needed to drill through the axle mount and the doubled frame of the truck, close to 1.5 inches total. I knocked the dirt and rust off the frame and mounted the drill horizontally. The magnetic base held the drill firmly. The safety rope that comes with it is a joke so I used a small ratchet strap. It cut the 3/4 inch holes like butter. I didn't force it, just kept enough pressure to keep it cutting and let the bit cool between holes. Used 2 bits to cut 18 holes.

First of all my one star is for the mag drill motor with its 1100Wand 550RPM output very magnificent. Its performance is very good. The problem with this drill is the Electromagnets are very weak. No matter how much you clamp the surface, the drill doesn't hold and there is shifting. Dealing with Amazon support is a total waste of time so I had to write the seller which is another story. After complaining to Zelcan on my issue, they find every reason in the book to prove I'm wrong. They said for the magnets to work properly, I must have it on a surface 10mm or greater. I had to ask, how often or who drills into material 10mm or more on a regular basis. They never mentioned that here about this product. After, continuously complaining and getting poor responses, I ask them twice, if they will sell me a strong electromagnet for this unit. Eventually, they answered telling me they don't sell parts but can sell me a 1500W unit for US$280. How does that makes sense. Other problems with this is the chuck and key they sells with this are not good. Its very inferior. The key is very small and one has problems to tighten a bit to the chuck. The key already show signs of wear and tear after one use. Plus, its not accurate when drilling. Another problem, is the oil leaks at the annular chuck head. Teflon tape didn't help o I don't used it. Overall, don't used this for accurate drilling or anything involves accuracy. This machine will raise while drilling. I tried my best using this and now I have to purchase from someone else. Wasted over US$300 and poor support service. I've attached some photos so you all will get an idea of this machine. Never again will I purchase from Zelcan although I have 1 yr warranty. There is no warranty when Zelcan takes themselves out of any problem, and failing to admit, they are selling a defective product.
