This thing is very big! Thought it was a joke! I'm still in disbelief. Seriously? Has very good suction. Haven't tried it yet... Maybe when the shock is over. Considering returning it. Update 9/19: worked A1 until it started to barely work. Cleaned it and it does not suck (doesn't work). Suspect the o-ring as it has hardened. Otherwise, beats an electric pistol version for suction.

I had a dp-366 solder sucker for more than 10 years that finally died after thousands of IC removals, mostly 14 and 16 pin dip. I can say my techs loved the thing and we repaired 10's of thousands of circuit boards. The only thing that wears out is the tip after many many many uses. We would cut a tiny notch in the end of the tip so that the tip would go over the iron and tight to the circuit board to get better suction. Frequent dismantle, cleaning and lubricating will make this your go to option for many years.

Introduced to this in high school and it is as reliable then as it is now.

My 40 year old Unger 7880 is showing its age. I decided to grab a couple new solder suckers to make sure I had a backup. Imagine my surprise to find "The Original" Edsyn Soldapullt listed by another vendor here on Amaze-on, along with several knock-off units. I chose this one as the closest clone to the Real Deal, plus spent the extra dough to get a "real" Edsyn. The Edsyn was a big disappointment. The quality simply wasn't what I remember from my yoot. (Look for my review on that turkey.) However, this thing is very well made, assembles and disassembles quite easily, cleans easily, and has massive suction. I think the reason it sucks so hard is because the O-ring seal is so good and the spring is far and away stonger than the springs found in other suckers like Unger, Engineer, and Edsyn. However, all that spring force has a negative side effect -- recoil. Just like firing a pistol with a large caliber this sucker wants to jerk out of your hand when it activates. As long as you can hold it in place, though, it yanks the solder right through the board and cleans those through-holes proper. Use more heat with this tool because the airflow will cool off the pad otherwise. Try it out on some junk boards before you go to do any serious work.My unit had a horrid trigger when it came out of the bag, but after a few dozen reps it has started to smooth out. Once again, that spring tension has a lot to do with the trigger being so rough. I'll live with it to get all that additional suction, though. These things are cheap enough that you can get four of these for the cost of one Edsyn. Don't do that -- just get two.

Works very well for a manual soldier sucker.

From someone that's been in the solder manufacturing industry for many years, this tool is a godsend to remove stubborn, disturbed, chalky or solder that doesn't wet. The tip on it is perfect and won't melt if it touches the iron tip. A faster alternative and perfect complimentary tool with solder wire.

I love this tool. I used it to repair a PC Board. Sucks the solder from connections easily and leaves the joint clean. Really works great!
