These are the best model of mini tach for small engines. With their earth lead the impulses are better screened for more accurate readings than others with just a single wire. Also they are better at resisting water than those with a battery you can change as there is no battery compartment lid to let water in. But even so if you use them where there is say rain or water splash from being on a boat outboard motor even these will suffer misting of the display. Note they are a sealed in battery and if they have been carelessly stored during shipping or storage and the front button kept pushed down the battery will be flat when you get them. This has been the case with two of the six I've bought over the years.
