Shows hours as expected. Shows rpm up to about 2000. Then fails and shows about 1/2 the actual rpm. Didn’t install it until after the returnable date so I guess I’m stuck with it.

Edit: changed the wire and re-installed. Now it works. Maybe I didn't insert correctly into the meter itself.Apologize for the negative review.Old review: I installed per instructions on my Yamaha 250 4-stroke outboard motor.Ran the motor on hose for about 15 minutes. Meter still reads 0.0.I thought since it needed at least 0.1 hour that 15 minutes would at least register. Nothing.I would give it zero stars but that's not an option.

I put one of these on my generaror 17 years ago and still working good. I put one on my 25hp out board a few weeks ago. Very easy to install.

Works as advertised. This was installed on 2012 YFZ 450R quad and has taken shock of riding track and trails, dirt and power washing working just fine. I do think this hour meter is made by hardline and Yamaha brands it, either way it is very well built.

No complaints, the installation takes 10 minutes and it performs as advertised. Highly recommended for Yamaha generators so that you can monitor rpm and run time.

I bought this for my generator, which is a Yamaha EF6300iSDE. I drilled a small hole in the left side panel, just above the vent slots, ran the wire through the hole, and screw the meter in with the two small screws. Simply wrap the wire around the spark plug wire, as close to the spark plug boot as possible. Wrap the wire around the plug wire at least five times, keeping the windings close together, and then hold the end in place with a wire tie (zip tie). People have asked before if you have to remove the rubber sheathing on the spark plug wire in order to wrap the meter's wire around it. DO NOT remove the rubber sheathing from the spark plug wire! The meter wire is meant to be wrapped over it. Any extra wire can either be cut off, or coiled up and wire tied inside the generator, motorcycle, snow mobile, etc. I'm buying another one for my MTD Yard Machines snow blower. Works as advertised, and should last a long time.

I attached this to a Yamaha EF2000is generator without issue. I pulled the back cover off, measured the length of cable needed, cut the provided cable to length, wrapped it around the spark plug wire, and routed it up through a pin hole that I punched into the rubber spark plug cover on the top. To secure it, I used the two provided screws and mounted it on the top next to the handle on the exhaust side.
