This car steering wheel tray is optimally designed for a Tesla. I have a Gen3 Toyota Prius. I find the fit on my steering wheel to be unstable because the tray doesn't come up very far on the steering wheel -- not nearly as far as it apparently does on a Tesla. The tray is wobbly as a result. In addition, I have to move my driver's seat all the way back or else my tummy hits the tray and easily unseats it. I'm disappointed, as I'd hoped this tray would have fit my Prius steering wheel and I'd be able to have a stable platform for eating and working on my laptop.As for the tray itself, it's made of a very strong plastic with a carbon fiber decal well-adhered on top. It's a good size for a tray, can fully utilize a large laptop along with a cell phone or mouse, and have room for a drink in addition.

Not a bad accessory for the car, but there are two items that I think would have really elevated this. When trying to pull the two pieces apart, it is quite difficult. It is a tight fit and I had to bang one piece with the ball of my hand to get it to slide down. This may be because it is new and maybe it will wear down and get easier over time. The other item is that the surface is quite smooth. It is not as textured as I thought it would be. If the top was more of a rubber-like material, i think it would be better. Overall, it fit around my steering wheel and the little hidey-hole on the side is an added plus.

The packaging is robust and should prevent any damage that could occur in shipping. The tray/gap filler is also made very well and the carbon fiber adds a pleasing aesthetic. I will note that if you use a steering wheel cover, you will likely have to remove it before using this as a tray (see pictures). I’m sure this is because they must ensure a snug fit to the steering wheel to prevent it slipping or falling off. I will probably use it mostly as a gap filler for my seats as I do not want to remove my steering wheel cover (though I did for the pictures). I was pleasantly surprised at how sturdy it felt and how snugly the two pieces fit together to form the tray.
