Oh this is my new favorite soldering compainion. Very easy to use, quick and efficient. Dont get me wrong, I have a quality steel wool tool to clean my tips for many decades now, but this is a game changer. Just poke your tip in and rotate a little then done. Speeds up soldering things.

The soldering iron cleaner works ok with the supplied power supply. It’s a 12VDC 1A supply. When iron is inserted the brushes slow down and lock up sometimes.I replaced the power supply with a 12VDC 2A supply and it works great! Doesn’t bog down or stop now. I wouldn’t go higher than 3A. The cleaner comes with a spare set of brushes and is extremely easy to take apart. Just pull it apart. Top comes right off. Then you can clean the slag/solder tray. I had to route the pulley band correctly. It had. One off one of the 3 pulleys.Happy with purchase for $44.00. Hopefully I can find replacement brushes. The unit would be extremely easy to modify with a more powerful motor or tighter band. However the higher current power supply did the trick!

This item is okay. It does do what it advertises, but there's some corners cut that would've made this a 5 star.First, the need for a power cable is annoying. I have limited outlets by my soldering station, so it would've been so much better if this thing had a rechargeable battery instead.Second, the motors inside the unit don't have much torque at all. Putting a chisel shaped tip in there, makes them stop. With a bit of finesse, it can clean the chisel tip, but it ends up being the same amount of effort as using a regular copper sponge thing. So all in all, it's fine, but for the price, I'm not sure I'm getting the value or utility that I hoped for.

I really like the concept of this product but sadly, the implementation falls very short of my expectations. The biggest issue with this product is the lack of “power” to drive, or rather, spin, the two brushes. The motor may have enough power but, with the spaghetti-thin rubber belt transferring the motor torque to the rollers and thereby, to the brushes, being so very small, the brushes get bogged down with the slightest “load” or resistance.Obviously, the larger soldering iron tips associated with working with stained glass stop the brushes from spinning immediately upon contact. Of course, the motor is still running which means the roller is spinning against the “rubber-band-like” belt which will undoubtedly shorten the life of the belt. With soldering irons used for electronic circuits, most tips will work fine but with limited effectiveness. The upper brush is spun by the drive belt that simply runs across the roller and not around. As a result, the upper brush has very little torque and easily stops upon contact with a soldering iron tip. And for surface-mount soldering iron tips, there is very little brush surface making contact with the tip so you have to move the tip from side to side or in a circular motion to clean all surfaces. One final limitation is that spare belts were not provided with this product. Considering how weak the design appears to be, I suspect that the belt will be the first point of failure.I really wish this product was better designed so that it would provide more torque to the brushes. I may decide to try and reverse-engineer the thing so that I can use it with my stained-glass work. The soldering iron fits but it chokes the brushes/motor immediately upon contact.Good luck with your experience.

This tool is awesome and has A LOT of promise, but it definitely feels like a first generation device that could be further improved on in future iterations. I truly like this product and it works very well, but a few tweaks would easily make it a five star item! That said, let’s delve into those things that I liked most along with the things that I disliked.THE “PROS:”• Automatically turns on… and off!• Cleans effectively!• Easy maintenance!• Fairly long power cord!• Loaded with accessories!• Small footprint!• Twin brass rollers!• Very innovative, fills a niche need!THE “CONS:”• Could use a bit more torque.• Couldn’t figure out how to remove the metallic tray.• Requires somewhat more than “2 seconds” of use.• Top brush may not fully engage.• 12V power jack is VERY tight. All said, this device does exactly what it’s advertised to do. Its strong points are extremely strong. This is a very interesting product and it’s obvious that much time and attention to detail was put into effectively engineering it. The caveats could be easily remedied in the future iterations, but these are certainly no deal breakers! I just would have liked to see a more efficient belt system to ensure that the upper brush runs as effective as its lower counterpart. I really didn’t mind that the process takes just a bit longer than exactly “2 seconds” as it still beats the alternatives hands down! Being unable to remove the metallic tray was probably just “user error” on my part, but it’s easy enough to dump out over the trash can regardless.Lastly, I would simply urge you to use care when inserting (and removing) the 12V adapter from the power jack as I found it to be a tighter fit than expected. Additionally, you don’t need to insert the barrel connector all the way in and it works just fine this way, so please don’t be overly forceful with it. Fortunately, the insertion won’t be as difficult after several uses, so it will help work itself out.Ultimately, this is a solid device with a good purpose. It certainly deserves a seat at my workbench! Although I feel like this product could be even better, there certainly are no dealbreakers! Manually cleaning your soldering iron tip takes time and could be a pain, however this product automates it and does a noticeably good job at doing so. All said, I would certainly recommend it!
