I bought this for a watercolor class that I am taking. I didn't like this brush because it loses the bristles when I am painting and it stays in the way that I am painting, it doesn't come back BUT my professor loves that brush and shows everybody the differences between this one and the synthetic ones. So I give 3 stars for my experience but a real artist probably knows how to use it correctly.

Great brush for shellac. Great value. Love it. So much better than what I was using.

In evaluating available brushes for my wc classes, this 1 inch wide size is the minimal basic need for learning washes on student 9 x 11 wc paper. In general the hake brushes is a good brush to consider for wc washes and blending because it absorbs the wash and can be applied softly so as not to disturb the paper.I prefer a wider hake, even for beginners, and find that this particular 1 inch product was more expensive than what is otherwise available. I appreciate being able to buy it on line quickly, however for needs for an oncoming class. I am interested in reviewing bulk prices for your products.

The Ferrule was not flush with the wood on one side and made the brush appear slanted from the ferrule to the tip of brush...messes up the ability and perspective of the artist if the brush isn't straight from the tip of the handle to the tip of the brush. Used pliars to squeeze the ferrule to brush, damaged the wood. When I pulled the dumb sticker it came with off the wood handle, that also pulled some of the wood off. Not happy with this purchase at all. Would not buy this type again.

Great for large watercolor, especially for pre-wetting the paper. Covers evenly.

So far I'm pretty impressed with this. I've been using some cheaper hake brushes and, frankly, I was getting tired of having to pick the hairs out of my wax. I haven't had that problem with this brand so I'll likely buy more. The one-inch size is good for small projects and to add some niche color - not so good for adding base coats. But I'm liking it so far.
