I ran out of the rope I was replacing my cat’s scratcher with and ordered this. The parts I used this rope in got mold.

This was my first time ever actually replacing the rope on the cat tree, normally i would just buy a whole new tree. I didnt quite know what to expect.I bought the 164ft length & I am glad I did. At first im like wow, too much, but as i got to wrapping, i went through it real quick. Took awhile from start to finish, at least an hour. When i first got it, it did stink pretty bad, i let it sit outside, unraveled, for probably about 2 days & it still had a pretty strong odor but I figured I was going to start the project anyways. I feel like the smell did go away as I was working on it.The rope is a tad bit thicker/larger then the previous rope that was originally on the cat tree, so i am hoping that the cats will still use it.Looks brand new now. I am curious to see how long it will hold up, with using hot glue. The two negatives i would say is that with the rope being so long in length i had a hard time untangling the rope, which was super annoying, but it worked out eventually. & the smell when you first open it, which is why i gave 4 stars. As of now, i would definitely recommend purchasing this product. Good quality 👍🏼👍🏼Have to see if my cats will use it first. Time will tell.**update: my cat was using it, yay**

Lots of reviews about the smell. Please read the instructions before attempting to install it. It says to sun dry the rope to air out the bleach smell that remains from bleaching the rope. This step calls for about 2-3 days. Make sure to unravel it for faster, better results. The instructions call for a hot glue gun but I used a staple gun instead at the top and bottom. Make sure to constantly compact the rope down together as you wrap, leaving no gaps at the end. It suggests to take the cat tree apart and it definitely made a huge difference. I suggest doing the demo work outside also. It's very messy getting the old rope and carpet off. Tools I used: staple gun, hammer to finalize staples, pliers to remove old and damaged staples, scissors to cut rope, vaccum. The rope is a great color and the correct size, matching all my other cat trees. Also keep in mind that most cat trees are cheaper to repurchase than to rewrap. It's not an quick or easy task like it looks like. I thought I overbought but actually had to order more. I completed a medium tree and a tall scratch pole. Full job needed 3 rolls of 165. I rewrapped it because this cat tree was discontinued and it's one of my cats' favorite trees. Since I was rewrapping one, I chose to do the pole too instead of buying a new one. Last tip, wear gloves if you aren't familiar with this material. Rope is going to be poky and scratchy. My 4 cats have had zero issues.

I write this as I am buying this for a second time. I originally bought this to re-wrap a cat tree in 2019, and now, almost 6 years after I re-wrapped my tree, I need to replace it. I'd say that's a decent durability for a scratcher used every day by my orange cat. Not smelly or greasy, either. I hot glued this to the post and it worked well.

This is exactly what I needed to redo a few poles on my cat tree. It , matches what the original is. I had watched a few YouTube videos. It's very easy to do. I'm elderly and had no problems. The cat tree is 72" tall. Saved a ton of money by not replacing it.

This is some decent rope, I trust that is "natural fiber" and it is ideal for scratch-post material. I used it to replace the carpeting on a retail scratch-post that I'd had less than a year before it was shredded and ripped down to bare wood and it turned out great. I used a combination of U-type staples from a staple-gun and occasional beads of Gorilla brand wood glue to attach it to the cardboard post. The post is about 5 3/8" in diameter and a tad over 19 1/2" long and this 164' rope covered it with about a foot left over. It's holding up pretty well but I will use more glue and more staples on the next project. My cat had an initial freak-out the first time he jumped on it after I added the rope but after a few times of meowing around it and a little reassuring encouragement from me he tears into it multiple time a day or an hour once again. It is his perch in the master bedroom but trust me when I say he is really aggressive, sometimes with all four paws, at scratching this post and the Yangbaga Sisal Rope for Cats - 1/4 Inch - Natural Fiber and Color can take it.I added a photo of it from 11/03/2022 right after I installed it and a couple of photos from 06/07/2023 to show the durability.

Good color match for my existing scratching post that my 2 cats had ripped to shreds over the years. This hemp rope is a bit little thinner than the OEM rope but it’s close enough for cat post use.I’ve wound new rope on cat posts before and you always need a lot more rope than you think. Not sure how you measure to order the proper amount but when the rope compresses together to cover the gaps, it doesn’t go as far as you’d like.I used a hot glue gun and spot glued the rope on the ends and about every 10 winds just in case I have to remove and replace this rope down the road. The rope has an mild to medium odd smell like bleach/vinegar. The include user “mannal” (sic - it’s manual - see photo) included with the rope says the smell is from a “harmless bleach” used on the rope and the instructions said to leave this rope outside in the sun for 2-8 days. I wanted to get the job done so I skipped the “raisin treatment” for the rope. The odd smell caused me to spot patch the scratching post rather than rewind the whole post. The actual “mannal” paperwork itself was damp and equally stinky. I left the remainder of the rope in a metal cabinet in my shop. After a few weeks in the cabinet, the rope still stinks like vinegar/bleach.Overall, this rope worked as intended. I thought about a 1 star deduction due to the smell, but once I installed the rope on the scratching post, the smell was not noticeable. Hope that helps!
