It the bits had cutting shoulders on them to reduce tear out I would give them a 5 star review. No matter how slow or fast you drill you get a bit of tear out. I ended up adding a backer board and set the drill bit deeper to fix it but not as it was designed. I will look for some replacement but with cutting shoulders before using this again. Otherwise great product. Doesnβt slip. Bushing is perfect size. I used a counter sink bit to cut off the tear out.

While these tools are pretty to look at , they are not much on durability. The 5mm one drilled 5 holes and exploded launched the spring across the room (still looking for that!) if you plan to purchase these be ready for a bit of a hassle. Oh as in the other reviews grind a flat on the bit!!

For those who say its not self centering, this bit is not the tapered self centering style, it is designed to be used in a jig. Works perfect with a little modification. Take it apart, grind a flat spot on the bit for the set screw, put it back together (a little patience helps) and its ready to go. It does clog with sawdust- but so do the $80 versions.... hold the sping loaded part with a pair of vise-grips (like the picture) and no more clogs, and better yet it there won't be any burning or melting of your jig... no spinning parts go against it. I use these all the time, and easily give 5 stars.

These worked exactly as expected. I was drilling holes for shelf inserts. Worked perfectly.

I can't understand how it could be self-centering. The tip isn't tapered, it's flat and big. I didn't pay attention and I thought it would be a small bit just to drill a pilot hole, but it's not. For most hinges, the hole diameter will be bigger than the screw diameter. I haven't tried it yet and I can be wrong, but it's not going to work at all.

The bits do not have a flat side on the shaft, so they escape the grip of the allen screw as soon as you use them. Reassembling the thing is surprisingly difficult, but with enough monkey hands it can be done. It will still fail immediately upon second try. Incompetent design, worthless. As a few others have said, if you have more time to waste and some good tools, you can machine the flat side on the bits and it will probably work. Or you can toss it in the trash and go to the local big box store and get to work sooner.

I thought they were bad quality but they are not I adjusted them with a grinder and now they work fine , but the sad thing is I lost 2 in the process, I decided that I change my comment to a positive one since they just need minor adjustments and they work great , can you please resend just the bits for 5 mm I bought 2 but through figuring out how to fix I messed them up till I got to the point I grind the edge and they work

the tool comes already calibrated equal to the length of the peg. i recommend you use a drill and not an impact drill. it will loosen the bit. One recommendation to the maker, shave the side of the bit so the locking key sits flat for more/better grip. when using the tool, gradually increase the speed of the drill to avoid unlocking of the bit. you will need to clean the bit every so often to remove the material being drilled. I used a light lubricant on the bit to reduce the debris being stuck in the shaft. overall, it is a good tool. if you need to take apart, it is very simple to put it back together

Worked fine, I made a jig and used these to drill the mounting holes for cabinet shelves. Don't take it apart, its hard to get back together!
