Cheap plastic. But it works. You might want to replace the string. I don't think it's going to last a very long time, but that's just string. Easy fix. Meh, it does the job.

Bought in April 2024, only used to check pool temp in Florida.Medium separated in December 2024, no extreme temp of freeze during that period.Tried hot water, freeze spray, and spinning around by it's string to fix.Not able to fix and will throw it away. Will not buy another of these to replace it.

Got this to measure the temperature of my ice bath! It's cute and fun and I like the idea of a shark being in my plunge tub. It's pretty easy to read and accurate fore the temperature. I've had it for a while now and it's held up good!

A pool thermometer has one job... tell me the temperature of the pool. This thermometer consistently reads 3-4 degrees lower than the actual pool temperature, verified by the built-in thermometer on my heat pump. Trying a replacement item first, but I fear I will have the same results, given the poor reviews.EDIT: after receiving the replacement, the new one reads temperatures more accurately. Change review from one star to four stars.

As simple (and a little goofy) as its design is, this is actually a clever submersible product who should allow to check the temperature at the bottom of a pond or a lake. The little cup holds water as you raise it, reducing the chances of a reading which changes as you lift it before you can get your eyes on it! I used it in a such a way for a year, it is very sturdy and all seemed good.Well EXCEPT that my koi pond is half frozen and when I checked the water temperature, it said 26F Fahrenheit. Now that is NOT physically possible. I always felt it was reading low, but well, it is wrong by at least 6 degrees, which isn't acceptable. Looking for a replacement as we speak, but very few thermometers can do a bottom reading...

The numbers are easy to read and it’s accurate. I’m glad I bought this because it’s gray. I have had a bright blue one every year and the sun and the chlorine bakes the color out of it. I think this gray one will look better longer.

It was summertime and I needed a new thermostat for the pool and saw this one and was like perfect I don’t want a lame thermostat and I also don’t want a duck (I feel like those are the common options) this one had some good reviews so sold. It worked wonderfully and everyone laughed about it. The problem was my Brittany spaniel kept jumping in the pool to retrieve it. Well after one too many retrievals the shark broke and the thermostat no longer worked and I ended up getting a plain one you attach to the stairs. I give this a 10 out of 10 overall and a 2 out of 10 for waterdog proof.
