We picked up a backyard pool, and figured it would be nice to see what temperature the water was. So far, these guys fit the bill. My kids are amused by a flamingo floating on the pool, and it seems to read fairly accurately compared to a more precise thermometer (not that you need precision for the pool). Lately one of them has started deciding to only float sideways, but it still tells me the temperature so thats the part that counts. Decent inexpensive option for your backyard.

These thermometers look so cute in our pool. They were in different sections of the pool overnight and read the same temperature as each other in the morning when I looked at them. I didn't unravel the strings because I don't necessarily want extra string floating around, but I suppose a person could tie the strings to one of the pool posts.
