I have an 18000 gallon/30 ft round above ground pool. My old cartridge filter housing cracked and shattered over the winter. I went to my local pool supply store in the spring to price replacement filter systems, figuring if the main unit was broken it was time for a whole-replacement. My local shop had the same size filter/pump (brand name H) for $850, not including hoses hardware or installation. I panicked realizing that it would be $1000+ to open my pool.I took a chance on this, and I'm so glad I did. I paid $300 on Amazon, watched three YouTube videos and was able to install this myself. Expect to pay $50 more for hardware/hoses/adapters, and $50 for the sand depending on your local prices.All-in it cost me about $425 to get the pool back up and running with a totally new filtration system. The multi port valve makes things so much easier than a cartridge filter, and the pool looked amazing this year with so much less work.If you don't think you can install this yourself - you CAN! Watch a few videos, make a trip to the hardware store and go for it. You'll be glad you did.

We got this in the middle of May and I've waited to write a review to ensure that it works well. We purchased this for a 22 x 52 above ground, soft sided pool after reading comments in a Facebook group regarding size of pump needed for this type of pool. Although the specs say otherwise, most comments indicated that this size pump is really the best option for a pool this size. I'm glad we went with this one because it's the first time we've had crystal clear water since we purchased the pool several years ago. The filter style pump that comes with those pools is often too small to really keep things clear unless you're rinsing it out several or more times per day. Even then, we still had difficulty keeping things clear. We chose to use filter balls rather than sand and have found that they are working really well. The pump, obviously, doesn't take the place of good chemical balance, but it certainly solved are main problem of constant cloudy water. No issues with the pump at all and we also purchased a cover for the motor through Amazon as the motor cannot sit out in the rain.

We replaced the cartridge filter that came with our above ground pool with this sand filter. It was tricky to install but wouldn't be if you did it prior to the water being at hose level. Immediately made a difference in the water. Would recommend!

This is the perfect replacement for our 5500 gal. above-ground pool! We decided to get this one which is less than half the price of what the pool store wanted for their cheapest one! Easy setup, super quiet pump, and sturdy valve! Tips for newbies: 1) If you are unsure of how to replace your setup, consult Youtube. The manual is not user-friendly if you are unsure of what you’re doing. 2) Make sure a friend is around to help. Moving your old filter with 100lb of sand in it is not a one-person job! 3) make sure you add water to the new filter after you add the sand and prime the new pump (don’t start the pump without water in it). 4) The laterals on this one don’t fold up. You’re gonna have to assemble them while they are in the filter. 5) MOST IMPORTANT: this does not come with the hose adapters to connect the hoses to the valve! The valve uses standard 1 1/2 inch inlet/outlet adapters. Either use your old ones or if this is replacing a smaller unit, you will need these, (you need 3). 6) Make sure to put plumbers tape on each adapter that you put in the valve to seal it and prevent leakage. That’s it, we are enjoying our pool for another season!

I had a scummy pond water pool with water bugs and I tadpoles!!!I was using a canister filter to try to clean it up and was constantly having to clean the filter every hour or two.I decided enough was enough and upgraded to this sand filter.Boy was I glad I did!! It came tightly packaged, no missing parts, and had the entire thing hooked up and running in a hour and a half!!No problems whatsoever!!The flow coming out into my pool is fantastic, the circulation is fantastic! My pool in three days went from the bayou to the Caribbean!!!This product and price is amazing we’ll see how long the pump lasts but as of now I don’t foresee a problem… I only run it 3 hours on 3 off by a timer.I would so far give it 6 stars if I could for the price and for the product/filter itself!Absolutely amazing, if you have canister filters and are tired of the headache/maintenance this is a great option for you!!Thanks!

This product is very poor quality and the company is even worse. I bought the filter and pump combo less than 3 months ago. The filter connections all leaked even with Teflon tape. Some of the connections are not a standard size and are larger than 2”. Typical pool connections are 1-1/4, 1-1/2, or 2”. The filter works nicely and does the job.The pump stopped working in under 3 months. The manufacturer told me to take apart the motor and check the shaft and impeller. They kept repeating that the return period has passed, which I understand, but I was shocked to find out there is no warranty on the pump motor. Typically, there is always a year warranty.I would never recommend or buy anything from this company. I would give them negative stars if I was able. I am angry that I had to give them 1 star just to post this earring to other buyers.AVOID AT ALL COSTS UNLESS YOY LIKE WASTING MONEY.
