Farbe geil, Material geil, Anwendung geil. Kein Schnickschnack, pure Funktion.

It's lighter than the leatherman raptor so it doesn't sag in the pocket. The raptor has lots of moving parts and tends to get lint and gunk it them needing more maintenance. It may not do all the things the raptor can do but it does it's one job better than anything else out there. Which is why I plan on using them for all my kits and plan on purchasing again.

I have used trauma sheers for over 20 yrs and these hands down are the best. Simple, rugged design, that fits in bunker gear pockets and scrub pockets easily without getting lost. Cuts through pretty much everything I have thrown at them and remains intact. Comfortable in the hand, and with gloves. Bonus, very easy to clean, no hidden little crevices for gross stuff to hide in.

For: XShear trauma shears are well made and are easy to clean. They can cut through thick clothing without bending or getting damaged and hold their edge for a long time.Against: They're expensive and aren't sold with a holster or pouch. However, those items are available to purchase separately. Compared to cheaper trauma shears they are an excellent buy.

Awesome scissors. Heavy, sturdy, sharp, good grip, nice shape. I wish that the tension could be adjusted, because they feel a bit stiff to open and close for my liking. If I loosen them at all, they pretty much fall apart. But other than that, well made.

First off, I was hesitant to throw down $43 for a pair of trauma shears, but I had gone through all of my free pairs from EMS conferences and my local community College. A few of the "free" shears were new and already dull and they broke with the force it took to cut through just one side seam on a pair of thick blue jeans. I am a nurse and EMT and I bought these shears in hopes that they may very well be the last pair I have to buy. These shears are sharp enough to cut delicate bandaging gauze like cutting through hot butter but rugged enough to cut up a pair of thick quilted Carhart overalls. I believe these shears might be indestructible and quite possibly the last pair I will ever have to buy! To find a pair of trauma shears that are precise enough to use as bandaging scissors in a pinch and then use the same pair to cut through a thick pair of overalls is unheard of, but this is truly a utilitarian tool. Well worth the $$$!!! Great product!!!Matthew D. Calfee LPN, EMT-B

I love these so much. I have no doubt that they can cut straight through any material im likely to encounter doing 911 EMS. They’re sturdy and robust and have maintained their edge after over a year at a busy service. I really appreciate that their design is so simple and streamlined. Theres no problem aesthetically either. It makes cleaning them after a messy call so much easier than more popular shears like the raptors. I recommend these to everyone i encounter. Also, they are so much more affordable than other higher quality shears.

As of writing this review, I have had the same pair of x-shears for two years. TWO YEARS. Anyone in EMS know that two years is a lot of miles to put on one pair of trauma sheers, but the X-Shears have really stood up. I work full time, 24 hour shifts, and an average of 10 shifts a month. That’s 240 shifts (without overtime shifts factored in) that I’ve been using these sheers, so I think I can finally write a genuine review.I’ve cut through dozens of pairs of pants, dozens of shirts, hundreds of EKG sticker packages, and thanks to living in Alaska, overalls, thick winter coats, and the occasional motorcycle jacket. To this day, my X-sheers remain almost as sharp as the day I got them, and as sturdy as a rock.Prior to purchasing these sheers, I had the obligatory leatherman raptors. Within just a few months of using the raptors, the axis screw would constantly walk out and I’d have to retighten it, the blades became dull, and the steel began to rust. Not to mention, I hardly ever used any of the extra “features” that I had paid so handsomely for.If you’re looking to purchase a pair of trauma sheers and are stuck between these and the raptors, do yourself the favor and purchase these. They’re cheaper, more comfortable, more streamlined, better built, sharper, and incredibly durable. They’re a no-nonsense, no gimmicks work-horse that will hold up to anything.Having used both sheers, I can confidently say that the X-Shears are far more conducive and comfortable in the environment of EMS, and will literally last you years (as long as an ER nurse or flight team doesn’t steal them).I hope this review helps.

These are the best shears I've used in eight years as an EMT and several months as a med student in the ED. They're sharp, well machined, and have tight tolerances to keep cloth and zippers from getting stuck between the blades like can happen with cheaper designs. For me, the choice was between XShears and Raptors, which cost twice the price. I chose these for a few reasons, beyond the price difference. The Simpler design is slicker, making it easier to slide into pockets and much easier to sanitize after being covered in blood or cast-plaster.The steel used in these, 420J2, is a corrosion resistant blade steel, much like the 420hc used in the Raptors. Both are legitimate blade steels and likely much better than what's used in other shears, but neither would be considered "high end" if used in a knife. In this application, both should be roughly equivalent in holding an edge, and both should do an excellent job resisting corrosion, with the XShears' 420J2 having a possible lead in that regard. After using these for three or four months, they seem just as sharp as they were on day one.I'm quite happy with the XShears. If you need a pair of trauma shears, or just excellent, heavy duty scissors, these will serve you well. If you feel you need a pair that can open oxygen tanks, cut seatbelts, and have multiple uses, I still think these have a lead over the competition, without needing extra bells and whistles (the back side can pinch the O2 valve to open it, and if you can't cut seatbelts with these in your hands, the deficiency is not in the tool).

Great shears, at 50-60% the cost of raptors. Unfortunately, that will set the tone for this review, a comparison of X-shears to the raptors, as that is the only measure. These trounce the standard fayre of disposables, yes even the Clauss titanium and NAR shears. If you’re looking for the same cutting power as the raptor, without the bells and whistles (let’s face it, we never use any of them) and like to keep your tools clean then these are for you. They don’t seem to suffer the same rusting issues as the raptor, and do fit in the shears pocket of my ambo issued trousers as well as my 5.11’s.Used to cut leathers, jeans, ballistic nylon, rope under tension, and the standard bandages etc. I usually scrunch tops up into one handful and slice the lot with one snip.Ok, a slight con is the shape, they do look funky - but that is let’s rally the only con I have found with these.Full disclosure: I’ve only been using these 2 months now, but have used them quite extensively. They’re still as sharp as day 1, no visible wearing of the black coating, and no rust. The handles do hold a couple of scratches where the plastic has come into contact with stuff but nothing major.
