Unfortunately this charcoal didn't go above the 300 Fahrenheit, not the best quality, I think I got a bad batch .

Not a single piece not broken. Yet to use however not sure if the smaller pieces will have a shorter burn time.

These are better than any lighter fluid saturated, ready to start briquette. Stuff one in a paper towel roll, surround it by a few more with a little natural fire encouragement, give it 15 minutes and you have a heat that will OUTLAST the usual briquettes you find in grocery stores and hardware stores. No jet fuel taste left on the food. Can spritz with a little water if you finish and still have charcoal to burn and it will re light perfectly next time. WORTH IT!!!!

This charcoal takes a while to get going. Once you get it out of the chimney you're gonna want to stack it up and let sit a while more. If you have a fan or a fukidake ( tube for blowing on fires ) get some air in it.Once you are done cooking you can put the coals in a airtight container to extinguish and use again. It lasts a LONG time. The partly burned charcoal is easier to start, so I like to put in the bottom of the chimney with new charcoal on top, and put it inside the stack when waiting for the coals to heat up.Overall, it's basically the same as Pok Pok.

If you are unsure about buying these, just do it. I bought these and do not regret it one bit. These will burn for a long time. Some were broken, which was fine. I used those when making the foods that do not take as long to smoke. I used the full ones for smoking a brisket, which takes like 10hours. I use these with a combination of wood chunks and my food came out amazing. The logs burn for a long time. Worth every penny. Will definitely buy these again.

Pros:They burn very long with very good heat. The consistency in the sticks made it relatively easy to maintain an even heat in a Weber smoker. Did a brisket that took 18 hours. Managed to hold the temperature steady throughout the process.Cons:Took a long time to get ready for cooking. Took a long time to heat. Also had a little challenge with how to pile them in such a way to make sure the chunks burn completely. I did have to move them around every once in a while as some sticks were going out after half burned off.Overall, this is a good product. Burns long and produces a very even heat. With practice I am sure I could learn to work with it.

Don't waste your money on this charcoal for grilling a hamburger, chicken or steak -- for that you will be very happy with lump charcoal. Charblox is for long, slow smoking. It is clean, low ash and the sticks of this charcoal catch fire easily and yet burn for 4 - 5 hours. Perfect for smoking a brisket or pork shoulder. Of course 4-5 hours isn't long enough for smoking such meats, you would have to add more Charblox after about 4 hours, but not nearly as frequently as with lump charcoal where it can burn out in way less than an hour.

I have been cooking with charcoal exclusively for the last 14 years. I know my grill and how much charcoal I need for the length of cook.I loaded my chimney with the blox. Had I used traditional brickets it would have been a very hot fire and cook for well over 90 mins. The blox did not seem to do well in the chimney. I had to use twice as many fire starters for them to get ashed over. And flip them end over end. When I dumped the blox out and arranged them I could hold my hand about 8" above them for as long as I wanted. Not hot at all! Regular charcoal id be able to do this for only 1-2 seconds. The blox did last long at very low heat. Maybe i needed twice at much to get the temperature I wanted but then the price for this charcoal is way too high. They advertise burns hotter longer. I did not find this to be true.
