I needed a mallet for leather crafting. Conventional hammers (you know, the ones with the nylon head) have always been problematic because the bolts holding the head on always loosen (even with lock-tight). This mallet has a raw-hide head that is solidly attached to the handle. It is just the right weight for carving, but it also works for stamping or punching. Its quality makes me think I will have it for a long time.

The mallet works well. It's a good value. The quality is good enough. The handle was sticky when I unwrapped it. It must have been wrapped up before the varnish was dry. I will have to sand it down and refinish the handle but other than that it's good.
