What Is Corten Steel?

Corten steel is a kind of weathering steel. This steel is made from a group of steel alloys that corrode and develop rust patina over time. This rust acts as a protective coating and eliminates the need for paint.

How does Worth Garden Corten Steel Edging rust?

The steel can develops a patina that creates a protective coating over the metal surface. The steel patina will change over time. They always start bright orange and change into dark brown.

To speed up its development on Corten steel, we combin vinegar, salt and hydrogen peroxide and spray the entire surface of the edging. This speeds the development of the patina, and a protective coating forms on the oxidized metal. Repeat the process over time, allowing it to dry between treatments until you achieve the desired look on your metal planter.

These things are very heavy and good quality. Not very easy to install depending on the ground, but they look great!

For a few pieces of rusted metal, the price is pretty hard to justify. But it does look great, and is very easy to install.

The 14 gauge steel was perfect for my purposes. I replaced a flower bed border of cheap vinyl. The hardest part was bending two sections to form square corners. I used an angle grinder to score the back of the piece where I wanted to make the corner. This worked well and looks good. The other thing I liked was the length of the steel sections. 40 inches made the install very easy and the border clips were also well designed. I would recommend this product for most smaller landscape projects.

My husband and I used tis product, in different heights, to line our front lawn, gardens and garden pathway. Easy to do, as we are 80 & 78 years old. Just place where you want it, hammer it in, put the stakes onto the edge edging, which are included. This will last for yours with no maintenance. Beats plastic any time!!

Okay, this is MY mistake. I compared this with a very similar product that comes in 48 inch sections, and has a clear coat over the rust patina. THIS IS NOT THAT PRODUCT. However, I really do love it. I’m slightly irked that I am 3/4 the way through my job, and now have to order more, but again it’s MY fault. In the end, super easy to install, BEAUTIFUL, and great quality. It’s more expensive than the other product when you price it per foot, and it’s not laminated. Just give careful attention to the details.

1st off love this worth corten edging. I've bought quite a bit of corten (spent nearly $1k on some real crappy stuff that hasn't lasted 6 months). This is my favorite brand. I live on Florida sand so had little trouble installing w a rubber mallet banging on a small wood board. The gauge is heavy enough to last but 1 tenacious person whose adamant abt curves can bend the stuff nicely. I'm really pleased. The edging has been installed for for 2 years & going strong around a bed of huge blue agaves.

This brand is a bit expensive, but that's the only downside. I spent last weekend installing them (late fall landscaping) and found them easy to install, reasonably easy to bend, and strong enough to be hammered into place - just make sure you follow the instructions and use a 2x4 to protect the edge as you hammer it.

Versatile Garden Edging. Beautiful patina in rust. Long spikes ( teeth) to hold edging firmly in place. We used it in a circle around trees. Edging along garden path and in odd shapes & it looks absolutely gorgeous. Will be ordering more!

Good quality product, arrived promptly, affordable price, look fantastic! Nice thickness so they do NOT bend but I guess you can cut with grinder to length you want.. However, I used grinder to score & bend, takes extra time & skill but works tremendously well. There’s a ‘good side’ or ‘better looking side’ due to way stacked and stored but didn’t find this an issue. Would like option of taller by 2 or 3 inches for certain applications. Will buy again and already recommended.
