This tool is designed to push the brake cliper piston back when replacing the brake pad.You do need a flat piece (I used the old replaced brake pad) to provide an even surface when applying the tool.It works flawlessly when I used for my brake job. I do wish it has a handle with better leverage instead of just the rotor handle.Keep in mind that this tool is designed to push the hallow piston, not the cross rotating piston

This is a wonderful product! My husband just did a brake change on our truck and didn't realize at the time the brakes were electronic parking brakes. This brake pad spreader allowed for an at home brake change and couldn't have arrived at a better time!100% recommend!

This works well and as designed/described. I got it to replace my very old manscraft one which was getting old and loose in the threads. The knob on this is actually more ergonomic and nicer on the hands. I'd buy another if ever it's needed.

This is a super simple and effective caliper compressor. Just a quick note, this won't compressor come calipers. A certain style must be screwed in to retractable.Add a dab of grease to the threads and it should last for all the brake jobs I will ever want to do and more!

This brake pad spreader has already proven its worth during a recent brake pad replacement I tackled. It worked flawlessly, making the job much easier than it would have been otherwise. The tool is well-made and feels sturdy. The 360-degree swivel joint is a great feature, allowing for easy positioning and maneuverability in tight spaces. Compressing the inner brake pad was a breeze with this tool.Pros:- Works great for brake pad changes- Sturdy construction- 360-degree swivel joint for easy useCons:- None so farI'm very happy with this brake pad spreader. It's a valuable tool for any DIY mechanic or anyone tackling brake jobs at home. It simplifies the process and makes compressing the brake piston a straightforward task. I highly recommend it.

Nice tool. No sharp burrs or poor parts. The threaded rod on my tool isn't perfectly perpendicular to the plate. Handle nice and large and easy to use.

I am a Vine reviewer who actually opens the box, really tests, really evaluates, and writes really honest unbiased reviews of products. Really.I always go back and read the advertiser description and other reviews. No other reviews at the time of this writing. In an effort to leave a timely review, I'm going to write about this item prior to testing it. That really isn't fair, but I have no brake jobs at this time, and it's below freezing outside.I am now retired, but am a former business owner, Service Writer, and mechanic. (We call 'em techs today, but I like mechanic.)I have used my trusty "C" clamp I don't know how many times over the decades, but when I saw this newfangled device, it looked interesting. My first impression is: I don't think it's going to hold up. That plastic handle may not take much abuse before it spins on the shaft or breaks off. Again, that is not fair prior to use to judge it, but it doesn't inspire confidence with its somewhat "cheap" feeling. Now I'll be the first to admit that if it takes a whole lot of pressure to compress a caliper piston there is a problem, but I would have preferred a metal knob as opposed to the plastic one.I'll be pulling the brakes off of my GC come spring and I'll have a chance to test this tool. I'll report back with an update. In the meantime, I'm giving this a possibly undeserved 4-star rating which may change.
