The batting is shipped in a vacuum sealed package. It came the size of a magazine. Even once the package was opened and the batting rested for over 24 hours, the loft is less than an eighth of an inch. You can even see through it! Not really what I had in mind. The last time I bought wool batting from amazon, it came in a NORMAL package and had a nice loft of maybe half an inch. Sending this back.

Love the amazing drape and super softness! Quilts beautifully on longarm.

This is a very soft batting and I love that. The wool has areas of discoloration about the size of a penny that showed through the white background of the quilt I just completed. It isn't a big deal, but I didn't expect that. Also it was a little thicker around the edges than it was in the middle, but not a lot. Very well priced for the quality of the wool.

I love this batting, it's warm without being bulky or heavy. I will buy this again.

I didn't even know this product existed until a friend who quilts showed me. I am using this to replace very thin foam padding in some Danish-design chairs that I am 'reupholstering'. I'll be happy to know that something so natural will be under everyone's rear end.

This batting is very soft and warm. It has a tendency to warp and shift. This made it difficult to work with. It's thin though heavy for it's thickness. It makes a good weight for a winter lap quilt.

Do not yell about how thin it is until you use the trick Jessica Kim told us about. Out of the package... vacuum packed, It is 1/8" thick.... barely. Spritzed with water and put in a clothes dryer at low-delicate setting, you get twice the thickness. I cut the whole sheet in half. Pictures are of a test swatch I made to check if it was wool or not (it is) by the thickness after fluffing, and a picture of both halves folded twice. Now, a careful look at the pre fluffed sheet, will show that one side is slightly more finished than the other. After fluffing, one side is still sooth and together and the other side is high and lofty with pills from the tumbling (not a lot of them though). Size wise, the width is about 44" and the length is the same. So not much loss there. I am not going to quilt with this I am going to needle felt a hat, but I have made quilts in the past, and I would have gotten thicker batting, because I quilt close together, about an inch apart, and this would not give me the height between quilting lines that I prefer. If you like bigger spaces between stitching, I would suggest getting twice as much as you need, and putting the softer side together. They will support each other after multiple washings, and will control the pilling and any bunching.

I wanted a good batting for a 4 layer double gauze blanket I was making for my bed. I decided to try this wool batting, and I am never using any other type of batting again! This batting has great drape, is light weight, breathable, and made my blanket super cuddly. It was soft and fluffy right out of the bag, and it was so easy to work with. It is a perfect match for double gauze fabric! If you are making a quilt for a baby (or even for yourself) this is the batting you are going to want to go with!
