Great Level 2 charger. It work flawlessly. I only have a PHEV so it can’t take the maximum output but it cuts my charging time from empty by 2/3, 12 hours to 3.5. I have it installed inside the garage so I don’t use the RFID cards for charging access but it works well. The display gives a lot of information about charging status. I opted for the plug in even though it delivers less that the direct wired because it makes it so easy to change it out incase of charger failure. Couple of money saving tips, claim the purchase price and installation on your income tax for a 30% total spent as a tax credit. Check Wolfbox website. They often have specials and a standard $499 install which could save you on the installation cost. I think they contract with local electricians to facilitate. This is for a standard non-complicated install. Wish I had known about this. Could have saved $350 but I’m glad I have it at any rate.

I have been an EV owner for 10 years. I purchased a home Level 2 charger at the time of buying my first EV. It was installed in the garage and was connected to power using a NEMA 14-50 J1772 with a 50amp breaker. It worked just fine for 10 years, but the release button on the charging plug broke and I found it not worth the expense to replace the plug and cable. I found this Wolfbox on Amazon and was impressed with the features and the price, plus it had WiFi with an app to control/schedule which was not on my previous product. It installed very easily. You will note in the picture below I mounted it at a 45 degree angle on the wall to accommodate using a wall stud for mounting and positioning of the NEMA plug and cord. It is solidly made and I really like the hard rubber charging plug. The app was easy to understand and configure the Wolfbox. I really like the ease of scheduling the charging through the app and the charging history and cost data it records. For future app enhancements, I would like to see the ability to accommodate multiple EV charging histories (I have 2), and to download the history information. A great product from cost/performance/ease of installation/features perspectives. BTW, the 25' charging cable is a plus for me.

I had this installed about a month and a half ago. For the money this is really good. I like that it has an app that you can use and the cord is plenty long to stretch from the wall to the other side of my garage to charge my EV6. I had a professional electrician install it, and the box paired with the app with no issues. The display is good and shows you the speed of charging really clearly. I would highly recommend this box.

I like this new level 2 charger, which is fully featured.Very easy to install, Nice looking, Easy to use scheduler, works with Google assistant, NFC connected RFID cards (should not be needed inhome usage). The 25ft cable and the rubber J1772 Plug (instead of plastic), makes it feel light and robust.I use it with my Tesla Model y, with the bundled Tesla adapter at 40A, and has worked very well.Very good price too.I am glad I got this unit.

Got this as I was looking for a better L2 charger for home. The product was packaged very securely. Installation was pretty standard. I would recommend reading the instruction manual before you even take the product out of it's separate packaging after opening the box.Pros:1. I was able to get it connected to the SmartLife app without having a separate app for WolfBox.2. The ability to turn it on and off via WiFi is great.3. Notification 15 mins prior to scheduled charging.4. Options to charge at 16, 24, 32, and 40Amps only.5. Plug & charge - Charges as soon as you plug it in.6. Scheduled charging - charges based on your set schedule.7. The box comes with everything you need for a proper installation including the EV wallplug.Cons:1. There is no mention of what settings you need to configure once you've added the product to the app, in the manual.2. In the app settings, there's a place to enter the cost of electricity called 'Cost unit'. In the field where you enter the actual electricity rate, it does not accept value more than 2 decimal place. Most electricity rates (in Canada at least) are with 3 decimal place. Because of this, I have to round up the cost and therefore, I do not get an accurate cost measurement.3. In the app, under settings, there's a place to define the Mileage for your EV. The issue is the terminology. For EV's, it should say Est. Range rather than Mileage. Mileage is a calculated value based on distance driven and fuel input. Est Range is a manufacture defined value i.e. how many kms/miles your EV will likely travel at 80/100% charge. This is a minor issue, but I had to play with it to figure it out.4. Personally, I think the reporting feature on this is HORRIBLE. Yeah you can define a date range for which you want the data to be viewed. But that data does NOT include how much ($) it costed you. It does show the date, duration, and the electricity consumed. You have to do your own math elsewhere for the cost.5. On the topic of reporting, the graph is a nice feature where it shows data either on kWh or Cost($). But it doesn't allow you to tap on the graph to pick an accurate value.6. The scheduling feature is great, but it does not allow for multiple schedules. For ex: weekend vs weekday. So, you have to constantly change the schedule to ensure you're utilizing off-peak hours.7. There is no 'charging complete' notification. Currently, there is no notification being received when either the scheduled charging is completed (even if the EV is not fully charged during the scheduled timeframe or on un-scheduled) OR when the EV is fully charged within the scheduled timeframe.Overall, it does the job of a L2 charger with some nice features but it has a huge room for improvement.UPDATE:Received a fantastic collaborative response from the seller on my feedback above and they addressed each point clearly. According to them, there should be a new app update mid/late October 2024. Looking forward to all the improvements suggested by all the users so far! I will say, that this EV charger is one of the best ones out there.

I found this WOLFBOX Level 2 EV Charger (40 Amp) to be a smart choice to buy and use to charge my EV vehicle. I is durable, easy to use, and looks great. I’m happy with its charging performance, efficiency, easy to use, its clear display so it is easy to check the charging status & battery charging level, the wifi connectivity, and the RFID security feature. Even though, it is not a high end model, but it is doing the required job.Its app is easy to set up, control, and gives a full visibility on all charging activities. The charging cable is 25 foot long. In terms of installation, I hired an electrician to install it for me.

[PROS] 👍✔Instruction manual is clear and detailed, within minutes I was able to fully understand what needed to be done✔Beautiful modern design with status display panel, you can even pair the station with an RFID card that allows charging to activate✔Charging work effectively and charging significant faster than a level 1 charging station✔Multiyear warranty support (3 years)[CONS] 👎✘Depending on which area of Canada you reside, you may need to install the charging station inside a garage if the cold temperature drops below the maximum limit of -22c✘Charging stations require electrical modification and updates for most homes which can cost $1000+[PRODUCT EXPERIENCE] ★ ★ ★ ★ ★👉The WOLFBOX Level 2 EV Charger is currently priced at $499.99 at the time of this review. The EV charger offers a modern and quality experience, the components (station and cable) have a premium feel, while the station itself has display panel which also syncs with an app (app store / google play store) which is fantastic; the app is polished and runs smoothly on my iPhone.I found the instructions detailed and written in clear English, I experienced no challenges understanding the set-up process. The price is affordable for a level 2 charger, the only downside with home charging stations is the cost associated with the installation through a certified electrician; between labour and parts because they take a significant amount of energy to operate (i.e. similar to your oven plug socket found in your kitchen) so be prepared. I still firmly believe it's worth the cost because you can completely avoid private charging stations that can bill you up to $25/hour depending on the EV level.Overall, the WOLFBOX offers exactly what I need as a consume, including the required safety certifications for my home insurance provider. Note that some home insurance companies will not cover the cost of damage if you install an EV charger with no certifications, you will be on the hook for any damages like fires and electrical damage. This is the reason I ordered from this company.

The unit was just installed by the electrician, and here are my findings...USE THE MANUAL! Like everyone, I just want to get going and get it done quickly without reading anything (!) but in this case, I used the manual to install the WolfBox. The manual is well written, and leads you nicely through the installation - the only caveat for North American users is the European labelling of screw sizes, but in any event, there's only a few bolts and screws. It took about an hour to install, and some of that was affixing a plywood "base" and then attaching the WolfBox to that base.Operation:I first tried to get the unit turned on by swiping the RFID card, but to no avail. However, when I looked at the unit, there was a message telling me to connect the cable to my vehicle and then swipe the card, which of course then turned on the unit (and if I had bothered to turn the page on my manual, I would have seen the same instructions; plug the cable into the car, THEN swipe! Duhhh)Starting didn't charge immediately - until I realized my car was set to charge overnight (at lower rates)and not immediately. I corrected the setting in the car, and off it went! For the purposes of a review of the app (we have iPhones), we swiped the card again to stop the charging process.Installing and using the WolfBox App;Installing the app was straightforward, and we proceeded to "Add Device", and the app starts searching for devices - it found nothing. I then went back and saw the notes to identify the router with password, after which the app found the EV charger, and installed. (one note about the process of connecting the Bluetooth interface was that it appears to be a generic piece of computer code, and not configured specially for the WolfBox, so although it worked perfectly, some elements on the screen were a trifle confusing.Using the app to start charging was easy to use, and a screen appeared that indicated that it was charging and there were displays indicating charging duration, mileage increase, energy increase, and temperature (of the battery?) - all great! BUT, these values never appeared and remained 0: only a few values appeared AFTER the charging was complete - a bit disappointing - it would have been nice to be able to look at my phone from time-to-time and see how it is progressing (maybe I missed an "interactive" setting?)Overall, the only real benefit I saw in the app was starting/stopping a charge without needing the RFID card. And although it had the ability to schedule the charging process and amount of power desired, my car already had this ability (as I imagine most other vehicles do) so I didn't even bother to look at it.Bottom line - Finally, in comparison to my Bosch charger, it has a better display ,showing power output, bet at the end of the day, it is a utility device offering a relatively simple method to charge your EV at a very good price point. (Thanks Gary!)

Wolfbox seems to have established itself with dashcam products then expanded into other car accessories like tire inflators, jump starters and now has added EV Chargers to their lineup. I get the sense that the WOLFBOX Level 2 EV Charger 40 Amp 240V Electric Vehicle Charging Station is a new product for them. It's a well designed, very versatile unit. The unit itself is waterproof, meaning you can install it outdoors if your situation requires it. It has a 25-ft cable and a separate cable hanger/connector dock so you can have the connector at a more convenient location. For example, in our garage our EV pulls in straight (the other side backs in) and we have our EVSE mounted towards the front of the garage. The charging port is at the back of the car, so we have the connector dock near the back of the garage right beside the car's charging port. If we ever get another EV, when it backs in on the other side of the garage, the cable can be routed across the front of the garage to reach that one, too. The cable hanger/connector dock bracket, while plastic, is a reinforced dual-channel design which seems super sturdy, especially comparted to another similar bracket I have. There are a few ways to initiate charging:- What they call "Plug & Charge" mode where it's just ready to go when you connect like any "dumb" charger.- App control where you can manually start/stop charging- RFID cards (2 supplied) where you can tap to start/tap to stop. This would be handy if you have it mounted outdoors so your neighbors don't use your charger while you're at work.- Scheduled charging where you can program when to charge, say, when your rates are lower overnight. In addition to the RFID charging activation cards, there is a "Management Card" which can be used to reset the unit if there are any issues. It will also clear all stored data so if you move and leave the charger behind, or you sell the charger, you can erase all of your personal information.I had a couple of issues out of the gate so I contacted them via their support email. They were very responsive, replying by the next morning. After some back and forth for additional information, in a couple of days they "pushed" an update for the unit which resolved all of my issues. The app is very straightforward and functional. You can input your electricity cost and it will track your charging energy used and the cost. There is only one "electricity cost" value you can put in, so if you straddle different Time-Of-Use rate periods it won't account for that. It's nice to get an idea of costs, though.

High points:Unit is built robustly, cord is long, plug handle is solid, wall rack for cord is simple and effective.Low points:After physical install, charger sat (with power connected) for four days before trying to connect app. When I tried to connect, app would not talk to charger. I reset unit twice using key card, no change. I finally shut breaker off, waited 30 seconds, then turned breaker back on and tried again. Success! This suggests some issue needs to be resolvedApp also lacks layman instructions for defining variables used to calculate cost and range. It would help if they included a statements like “Contact your power supply company to find your cost per kilowatt and enter it here, e.g. $0.25” “Enter your vehicles max range as indicated in vehicle specifications.”Wolfbox makes dozens of different products (in China) and their app applies to all of them. Finding the proper device (car charger) was not as easy as it should be. Additionally, ever time app is opened you’re greeted with screen asking for device to control with the single Wolfbox EV charger item (unless you have other devices). This is annoying forpeople who do not and app should have option to default to one device and skip selection screen.

Since I already had a 240v/50amp outlet for my RV, the plug in model was an easy install. It works incredibly well at an affordable price. I was disappointed that it didn't come with the proper adapter for a Tesla--the online image indicated it was compatible for charging a Tesla and I misunderstood that to mean that it would connect to a Tesla without needing an additional part. So, making this work with a Tesla takes buying an additional adapter for about $40. What I like with this unit is the 25 ft cord...the plug-in outlet for the unit is in the garage and the cord easily connects to a Tesla charging port (which is on the back-end of the car). I would buy it again and I certainly recommend the Wolfbox charger. The app is intuitive and the magnetic cards are both easy and secure ways of initiating the charging process.
