Good piece of leather, thick and tough! I have no doubt this will protect my handle. I will put on all my handles

Dosen't fit the council too pack axes well at the ears and dosen't wrap around enough for my liking. I ended up cutting it flat and using it on a smaller hatchet. The leather looks nice and seems to be good.

Was a pain in the butt to put on and get it tied. Didn't really fit to my style axe and I had hoped. But was nice quality product.

Super stiff leather. So stiff it will not wraparound an ax handle. I had to soak it in water overnight to make it pliable. Then it worked fine. It was much easier to apply to the ax handle and I have really strong hands.Definitely do not use the leather lacing supplied with this as it snaps really easy. You cannot pull it tight with that stuff there’s no way and I was careful with that because I know this leather boot lace stuff does snap easily.I used a synthetic boot lacing as shown and that way you can really make this over strike protector snug to the handle. The supplied leather lacing just does not work for this application because it is smashed between the ax handle and the overstrike protector and it binds there.I applied this to the Hults Bruk Kisa axe. It was snug as I could make it but it’s still wanted to slide a little bit on the handle which bothered me so I ended up using a contact adhesive underneath and laced it up snug. These overstrike protectors are WORK to get on there correctly so be ready for that. Hold the axe head between your feet with cutting edge down to floor and axe handle pointing away from you.If you try to stand the ax up and apply this thing at the same time, you will never ever get it on tightly or at all.Lastly, I had to trim the top pointed end back 1/8 of an inch. It’s a process.

Using this product on an 8lb maul to protect a new hickory handle. Fit is pretty much universal and fit my handle just fine. I've only just started to use it, but after about a cord of oak split there's no sign of failure, just a few scratches. The leather is durable and the price is a no brainer.
