About the handmade finishment
Firstly, artists need to select the basswood and carve the shape of nesting dolls by different size requirements.
Then saw the wood from middle into 2 pieces and hollow out both sides. That's the prototype of nesting dolls.
After that, artists paint the original pattern on the wood by pencil and use electric soldering iron to sculpture the pattern base on pencil marks.
Finally, dye the nesting dolls with colorful painting according to design drawing.

My daughter loves these, however because they are unfinished wood they are a little tricky to get out. Also, they make a VERY loud sqeaky noise. Other than those two things, they are great

I was really surprised to read bad reviews about this product, so I wanted to post about my experience with it and include photos.First of all, I purchased these one and a half years ago, so my review is based on having had them for quite a while. They have held up well- not even a crack. All 7 are in just as great condition as the day I received them, and that is saying a lot- as they were gifted to my 3 year old daughter! They've been played with perhaps more roughly than they were built for, and have survived just fine.This set is beautiful. I love the colors. Some reviewers complained of a sloppy paint job. I've taken many pictures to show you the front and back of these dolls to give an idea of how they were painted. There are imperfections in the paint job, but I think that's part of their charm. I like that they were hand-painted and each set is unique. The little one, as you can see, is painted very simply as opposed to the bigger, more elaborate one. I don't mind that. My daughter calls it the baby!Nesting dolls can be a lot more expensive than this. I wanted to find something not too pricey, but still lovely. These have been perfect. My daughter loves stacking them together and playing with them. I think this would make a great gift for anyone- child or adult! They can be used as a toy, or as a whimsical decoration. Whoever they're for, it is hard to resist the temptation to open them all up in search of the smallest one inside, and close them up again. They are fun, and a bit magical, for all ages!Because they were for my daughter (now 4), I've asked her if she had any additional remarks to add to this review. Her comments:"I was playing with them just a minute ago. I feel like they have been in my heart forever and they are really nice toys! I like the decorations!" We both love them!

My granddaughter asked for some for her birthday and she absolutely loved them! They were beautiful! We all loved them! In fact my 30 year old daughter wants some! They were painted beautifully. I have some expensive ones that we got in Germany which are way more detailed but for the price these are nice! They would look better if they were varnished so that they would shine!

My grandmother in law absolutely adores Russian Stacking Dolls, and when I found this set and their beautiful colors, I had to buy it for her. She's loved them since she first saw them, and has them proudly displayed in her glass cabinet in the living room, letting their beautiful colors and intricate details shine out at her and everyone else. The clear gloss over them each further enhances the vivid colors, and with what use she's made with them, all has yet to flake off even a little bit.

They are ok, I gifted them and I was a little disappointed with the average painting job. As someone else mentioned the paint is somewhat botched in some places and they did not erased the pencil marks that were traced prior to painting. Seriously....Feels rushed and definitely lack attention to details. From a distance they look good, color combo of teal and gold works well. The last 3 dolls are not painted and I think it's too bad, it feels unfinished.

I was VERY pleased with this set. I am considering buying a couple more sets as keepsakes for my grands. If I do, I will buy this brand. I bought a second set when I bought these, and it's fine for my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter. But seeing the two sets side by side, I am much more impressed with this set. If you want a set for a little one to play with, I suggest getting a less expensive one, but buy this brand for older kids who will treasure it.
